BMW 2002 Turbo

An Autobahn ready 2002 variant, the Turbo wasn't ever offically imported to America. It even met restrictions in Germany. Making 170 horsepower, the German Government didn't allow too many turbos on the road and the model didn't last long.

This Turbo is owned by Fredrik Aberg. The color is Chamonix, and the car is fast.

1974 2002 Turbo

This turbo was seen at the M Day USA celebrations at the Spartanburg, South Carolina BMW plant. Owned by Bob Payne, this and his '71 tii, and '73 3.0CSi (seen to the left in this picture)were featured in a BMW CCA article in the February Roundel (Club members, you'll recall, Roundel printed the pictures backwards because they felt we couldn't handle the next fact). The front air dam does read S00S oburt, or 2002 turbo, backwards. This was purposly done so when the turbo came upon your rear view mirror on the 'Bahn, you could read what it said. The Germans quickly outlawed this.

This turbo shows the only other offered color for turbos, Polaris. You can better see the 2002 turbo script as well. 2002 Touring 2002 Page 1972 2002
