Gray Silkies


A Gray Silkie A Gray Silkie chick

Here, you can meet some of my Gray Silkies. My Grays are a loving work in progress. This group was created by crossing 2 colors, Splash and Gray, because I couldn't locate any breeders that had any others for sale. I still have a ways to go with these guys to get them where they are supposed be according to the breed standard. I sometimes have Grays available, and even though they aren't quite up to the Standard yet, please email if you're interested in this variety.

A Gray Silkie
GRAY SILKIE BANTAMS
(Bearded and Non-Bearded)
  • COMB, FACE, & WATTLES: Deep mulberry.

  • BEAK: Slaty blue.

  • EYES: Black.

  • EARLOBES: Turquoise Blue.

  • SHANKS & TOES: Slaty blue.

    COLOR of MALE
  • HEAD: Dark gray.
  • NECK: Hackle - light gray streaked with darker gray.
  • BACK: Even shade of chinchilla gray.
  • SADDLE: To match hackle.
  • TAIL: Main tail, sickles, and coverts - same as back.
  • WINGS: Shoulders, fronts, bows, and coverts - same as back. Primaries - slaty gray with center shafting of darker shade. Secondaries - slaty gray.
  • BREAST: Light gray.
  • BODY & STERN: Same as back.
  • SHANKS & TOES: Slaty blue.
  • UNDERCOLOR: Smoky gray of a shade not darker than top color.

    COLOR of FEMALE
  • HEAD: Chinchilla gray.
  • NECK: Hackle - light gray streaked with darker gray.
  • BACK & CUSHION: Even shade of chinchilla gray.
  • TAIL: Main tail and coverts - same as back.
  • WINGS: Shoulders, fronts, bows, and coverts - same as back. Primaries and secondaries - solid even shade of slaty gray.
  • BREAST: Light gray.
  • BODY & STERN: Same as back.
  • SHANKS & TOES: Slaty blue.
  • UNDERCOLOR: Smoky gray of a shade not darker than top color.
