White Silkies

Angie and Andy

Whites above, are the most common of the Silkie varieties and most often seen at shows. That is because they have been around the longest, their overall quality is better than any other variety, and so they do the most winning. However, the quality is gradually improving in the other varieties as well.

new pic coming soon. Whites should be bright, snowy white. Sometimes they will turn brassy, showing a yellowed look especially in the hackles and saddles. This is often caused by feeding them corn scratch feed and exposing them to a lot of direct sunlight. It seems, though, that Whites carrying the silver gene won't yellow, or won't yellow as much. Also, the ones carrying the silver gene usually seem to have a certain icy look to their plumage as opposed to a more creamy white.

new pic coming soon.

I'm still working with my Whites, so it might be a little while before I have any available. Please email me at the link below if you'd like to inquire about availability. :D.
