- Today ( 2-14-06 ) was the last day
new people could attend meetings for the semester.
We do not have enough meetings or projects left to help
catch anyone up.
- Today was the last day to turn in
Valentines for Vets service proposals.
- Ticket stubs and money were turned
in at the end of the meeting.
- Sarris Pretzel Rod fundraiser
started on 2-14. Anyone interested in selling a
box may see an officer. Please have a check or
cash (IN AN ENVELOPE, PLEASE) for $24 to pay for the box
of pretzel rods.
- Our first Highway Clean-up is this
Saturday, February 18. Those interested should
meet behind the Keystone building at 10:00 am.
If it should be too cold or snowy, an email will be sent
by 9:00 am on Saturday. The snow date for this
clean-up is March 11. Our next clean-up will be March 2,
at 4:30 .
- It was noted that we need to
purchase or receive from Penn DOT more work gloves for
the Highway Clean-up project.
- Tonight, February 15, is the Pizza
Social. Time: 9-11 pm . Place: Rooms
206-207 in Natali. A donation will be collected
for the Washington County Humane Society. This
social will count as a Chapter Event.
- The ice skating social has been
postponed until further notice.
- Initiation: All requirements
are due March 7. Exceptions are: 1. Snow
dates for highway clean-ups. 2. those who are in need of
ONE meeting may count the March 21, meeting.
Please note, March 7, is not a regular meeting date;
however, officers will be in Conference Room 310 between
11:00 and 12:00 . You may turn in any projects at
that time.
- Service Projects: Valentines
for Vets were distributed on Monday. Next project:
New Pet Owner Baskets. Fill a basket with
pet supplies (for a dog or cat). We will donate
these baskets to the Washington County Humane Society.
Due Date: March 7. We have also
started the Literacy Bag project. See Megan to
sign out a book from our Kappa books in the resource
room. Due date: March 7 for Initiation
requirements or April 4 for points. We are still
working on information for a service project involving
Easter baskets for the Washington County Womens
Shelter.
- Teacher Resource Fair: This
will take place April 10 and 11, from 9-3 and 9-5.
(We havent designated which time will be for which
date yet.) Participants will receive service hours
for every hour they work the fair. These hours
will count as points, since they are after Initiation.
- Chapter Event: We will have a
chapter event March 1-3, in the Resource Room on the 3rd
floor of the Keystone building. A sign-in sheet
will be provided. Spend time cutting nets and
other shapes/letters for our Adopt-A-School program; work
on a literacy bag; create flash cards and games.
Hours will count as service hours. This will count
as a chapter event.
- RIF : We have secured a date
of Monday, April 3. We do not have an exact time
yet. It will be held at the Citizens Library
in Washington, PA. Service hours will be earned
for preparation time. More information will be
provided later.
- Adopt-A-School: Proposals are
due February 28. We will vote on a school at that
meeting.
- Gulf Coast Trip: Kappa
members are invited to travel to the Gulf Coast during
the last week of May (after Intersession, before Summer
1) to lend our services to those in need. We will
provide more information about the trip and its cost in
the near future. We will also be working on
fundraiser ideas to help defer the cost for those
interested.
- Tee shirts are still available in
the Resource Room for $10. We plan to buy hoodies
this semester.
- Honor Cords: Points are
earned towards free or reduced-cost honor cords to be
worn at graduation.
