Some members of the 2002/2003 poetry club.

Poetry Club, set up to give time to the written word from inside us all and from those who came before us. We gather around, forming a circle of excitement, talking about the day’s events, laughing and yelling. Then, silence, someone speaks, someone reads Poe, or Dickinson, or Shakespeare. Their words flow through the air, poetry at it’s best, effecting us all, seeping into our minds. Silence again, and soon another is speaking, this time from their own heart, their own words, about love, or sorrow, beautiful thoughts, or dark ideas. Another and another, each written in a different style, each welcomed by its listeners. Everyone in deep thought, not wanting to express the secret emotion a poem may have caused inside. A moving, uplifting, and fun experience that every member loathes to see end, but soon the meeting is over. We all file out anxious for the next time we will meet. We welcome you to join our Garden of Words, come and be our guest, sit at our table and lay open your souls in rhyme and rhythm.
