James Seaberg, who did a study on whether or not child welfare workers could assess emotional child abuse, required a definition for his study. He defines emotional abuse in terms of its outcomes. Outcomes such as conduct disorders, behavior extremes and attempted suicides can all be used to determine emotional abuse as well as define it (Seaberg 23).
