SEARCH, DISCOVER, SHARE!

Tiger Cub Promise:
I PROMISE TO LOVE GOD, MY FAMILY AND MY COUNTRY, AND TO LEARN ABOUT THE WORLD.

What Are Tiger Cubs?

Tiger Cubs BSA is an exciting program of the Boy Scouts of America for first-grade or 7 year-old boys and adult family members.

You and your Tiger Cub will have many wonderful opportunities to SEARCH out new activities, DISCOVER new things, and SHARE them with each other.

An important goal of the program is to offer your Tiger Cub all kinds of new activities and fun--things that he can do with you. But another goal is to strengthen the bond of the entire family.

During the time your son is a Tiger Cub, we want to impart some of the ideas of the Boy Scouts of America to him--ideals such as personal fitness, reverence for God, love of country, and caring for others.

We also want to help you build a closer relationship with your Tiger Cub. We want to offer you opportunities to share your ideals, values, and dreams with your Tiger Cub. In addition, we believe that self-esteem and self-confidence are especially important, and building those things in your Tiger Cub is another goal.

Amid all these new goals for your Tiger Cub, there is one other goal we want to stress. And that goal is fun--fun for your Tiger Cub, fun for you, and fun the two of you can enjoy together.

To begin gCub BSA program is designed with a minimum of organizhis path to the Riger Cub Rank, a boy must do the following to earn the Tiger Cub Totem:

Learn the Tiger Cub Motto: Search, Discover, Search
Learn the Cub Scout Sign
Learn the Cub Scout Salute

Once he earns the Totem, to earn the Tiger Cub rank, the Tiger Cub Scout must complete a Family Activity, a Den Activity, and a "Go See It" Activity in each of the five Achievement areas:

Making My Family Special
Where I Live

As he completes each Achievement, he is awarded a bead which is hung from the Totem.

  • He earns a WHITE bead for each required FAMILY Activity.
  • He earns an ORANGE bead for each required DEN Activity.
  • He earns a BLACK beach for each required GO SEE IT Activity.

After completing the fifteen Achievements, the Tiger Cub is awarded the Tiger Cub Patch. The patch is affixed to the reverse side of the Tiger Cub Totem until he advances to the Bobcat Rank and begins working on his Wolf Rank. At this point the Tiger Cub and Bobcat Rank patches are sewn on the Blue Cub Scout Uniform shirt.

Also, after completing the achievements, the Tiger Cub can be awarded Tiger Track Beads, which are YELLOW disks attached to the Totem. One bead is awarded for each group of TEN Electives the Tiger Cub completes. A boy can work on both Achievements and Electives concurrently, but he can't receive Tiger Track beads until has has earned the Tiger Cub Badge.
