The Monkees
Micky Dolenz: I ordered an autographed copy of his autobiography, from him, signed in black marker. Then I ordered a copy of his CD "Demoiselle" from his website which is also signed in black marker.
Davy Jones: The first one I bought, and it's a signed record sleeve of the 45 "David Jones: What are We Going to Do?/This Bouquet", looks like it's blue Sharpie marker. The second one I obtained in person, it's a Playbill of "The Wiz" that Davy signed for me (see story on my Monkees page) in black Sharpie, and the third and fourth I also got in person a year later, a picture signed in silver, and a book signed to my mom and I in black.
Michael Nesmith: I ordered a copy of his novel from his website, and the sig reads "For Tessa, Michael Nesmith, Dec. 2 1998" in black pen.
Peter Tork: I have three, all gotten in person. A cd cover and a picture, signed in black Sharpie. They say "To Tessa, Love, Peter Tork". Then, four years later I met him again and he and "Shoe Suede Blues" (his blues band) signed their cd cover "Saved By The Blues" for me.
Other Musicians
Justin Hayward: (of the Moody Blues) I bought a Moody Blues cd "Keys of the Kingdom" singed by Justin in metallic gold pen on the cover.
Pete Townshend: (of The Who) I ordered a copy of his book "Horse's Neck" from his company Eel Pie. They came from his personal archive, and he signed a certain number of his various book and put them up for sale. It's signed in black pen.
John Entwistle: (of The Who) I bought a poster at the 6/29/00 concert in Pittsburgh. It's the four original Who members drawn by John, hand signed in red marker. I value this even more since his recent death. I'm glad I got to see him in concert.
Actors
Anthony Daniels: (C-3PO from Star Wars) I wrote to him and he sent me a picture signed in gold metallic paint marker. It's personalized to me, with a message about my letter.
Harrison Ford: (Star Wars, Indiana Jones, etc.) I think it's a print. I sent him a birthday card a few years back and got it in the mail. It's a nice picture.
The Cast of M*A*S*H: Alan Alda (Hawkeye), Mike Farrell (B.J.), Gary Burghoff (Radar), Jamie Farr (Klinger), Harry Morgan (Col. Potter), Loretta Switt (Margaret Houlihan), David Ogden Stiers (Winchester), William Christopher (Father Mulcahy) Alan Alda's is on a picture, so is Gary Burghoff's (it's so cute...Radar and his teddy bear!). The others are on index cards. I bought these as a set.
Bill Murray: (Ghostbusters, Stripes, etc.) I bought this. It's a picture of Bill as Ghostbuster Peter Venkman (from the first movie, 1984) with his arms crossed. It looks like the sig is in blue Sharpie. I bought this.
The ones I buy, there is of course a risk on. The bought Davy Jones came from a fan I knew of, and the guy who sold me the Justin Hayward sent me pictures of the event he got it at. The Bill Murray and the cast of M*A*S*H both have COAs (certificate of authenticity). The Micky Dolenz, Pete Townshend, and Michael Nesmith were all bought from the star themselves, so I'm not worried about it ;-)
