The Monkees

I love these guys. The TV show was great, the music was great, and they seem to be really nice people. I've met Peter Tork once (many thanks to Mary Jo for the backstage pass at Lakeside!!!!) and Davy Jones twice (see below for pics). They were both very friendly, and I got autographs. The Monkees, Micky, Peter, Michael "Nez", and Davy, in the 90s.

Peter, going into our hotel at Lakeside. The scan is bad, but it's an awesome pic taken by my mom. The weekend I spent at Lakeside with three of my best girl pals was one I will never forget. We stayed right down the hall from Peter Tork, one of our idols! He gave me a new nickname! Baylee and I got surprised by him in the hall outside the bathroom! His girlfriend gave me a backstage pass! What a trip...I got my story of it published in a Monkees fan newsletter...I'll get around to putting it up here eventually. Hugs to Baylee, Corey, and Andi!!!

Davy, signing my "The Wiz" Playbill in Pittsburgh. My friend Baylee took this pic. I got the Playbill at a little store last summer that had a bunch of old magazines. His friend Charlie Smalls, who passed away, is in it and I thought he might like to see it. I can't remember exactly what he said, but his face lit up, and he used the word groovy ;-) I think it was a welcome change from all the Monkees records people were having him sign. He talked to me longer than anybody else, and it made my night :-)Baylee got an autograph too, and we both got our hands grabbed by him from the stage during the show. Check out my Davy page (see the link at the bottom) to see the pics of my second meeting. I still can't even believe that happened...but the fab pics are proof!

This was taken in 1997, by Baylee. This was out back after the show in Cleveland. It was my second Monkees concert, Baylee's first, and my uncle Tim's first as well. Davy is getting into the limo, and Micky is already in it. I was peeking in the window at Micky when this was taken...heehee.

Another fab Monkees experience I was lucky enough to have was getting a smile from Micky at my first Monkees concert in 1996. I'm not going to tell the story just yet...it's humiliating...but Micky made me feel better :-) (thanks Micky!) He has a great voice...but when you're right there hearing it live it's absolutely *amazing*. The only person who's ever come close to it that I've heard is Justin Hayward, and even he wasn't quite as powerful. At both Monkees concerts I've been to Mick's singing has actually made me cry it was so good. I'm not exaggerating. If you ever get the chance to see him in concert, by all means GO!

Michael I have not ever seen in person, or had any contact with whatsoever aside from the fact that I do have his autograph...it's a signed copy of his book that's personalized. Since I am a diehard "Nezhead" I was quite happy to get that. I'll see him someday!!! I *will*!!!!

I do have autographs from all 4 guys. Two from Peter in person, three from Davy in person and one bought, Micky's signed autobiography bought and a signed copy of Demoiselle bought, and Nez's book bought. I'm hoping to get them scanned eventually.

Be sure and check out my Monkees Adventure. It tells all the stories of my Monkee travels. I started writing this just after Lakeside. It's a work in progress, and will be for as long as there are Monkees Adventures to be had.
