The TBG Safari Club is designed to reward hunters based on the difficulty of the hunt. Our score formula grants 1000 points for defeating an alien ship that is your exact equal. Since really no one attacks aliens that are their equals, most hunters will score below 1000 points for a kill.
Q-How do I calculate weapon score?
A-Calculate weapon score by taking the primitive base damage for your weapon and multiplying it by the tech level and the range of the weapon (adjacent=1 remote=7). Sum the scores of all your weapons and then adjust the number for any blessed or cursed weapon artifacts you may have, and then take the square root. See here for an example.
Q-What is the AT, or average tech level?
A-It is the average of all the tech levels of your usable modules, rounded to the nearest whole number.
Q-Do I need to factor pods into my calculations?
A-Yes. Pods are fair targets in combat, and therefore need to be counted.
Q-Do I need to factor in unusable modules?
A-No and yes. Since the probability of an alien targetting an unusable module is very low, unusable modules should not counted in with the average tech level or mass of the ship. However, do not alter your percentages. To recalculate your mass, simply subtract out the number of unusable modules from your mass. Should an alien target an unusable module, you are required to go back and factor that module back into the equation.
Q-Can past kills be counted into my score?
A-Only kills that were carried out while you are a member of the club can be counted.
Q-I just killed a chump and have a negative score, but I still spent a round doing it. Is this fair?
A-Yes, the kill is counted and your negative score is rounded up to 1.
Q-The alien fled and I only got a certain percentage of his modules, what is my score?
A-Whatever percentage of his modules that you take as loot (according to mass) is what percentage of the total points that you earn.
Q-Since artifacts have no mass or tech level, how do I get rewarded for winning one?
A-Artifacts are weighted indirectly by their affect on a ships percentages. Since it takes many hits to capture an artifact, the player is rewarded by having the artifact listed on the score sheet.
Q-Does pod cargo count towards tonnage destroyed or % of the ship captured?
A-Absolutely! You should be rewarded for captured cargo, since it is one of the best reasons for firing on aliens in the first place.
Q-When an alien self-destructs, do I get credit for any mods destroyed in the explosion?
A-Yes! You get full credit. If you can take the damage, you deserve the reward.
