How to remove the heater control valve

How to remove the heater control valve:

The heater control valve is located above the turbo downpipe elbow. It can be safely removed to avoid it's future failure and possibly leaving you stranded. I had a heater valve go and it was no fun fixing it on the side of the road on a 100 degree day. You can also see from the pics that I used silicone hose. This will help to avoid heater hose problems later. There is a lot of heat radiating from the turbo that cooks these hoses. I used the one pipe from the original setup to make the bend to the hose that goes over to the other side of the engine.

While I had the heater control valve off I flushed the heater core with Prestone Super Flush. A lot of black pieces and metallic pieces came out. I was getting 65 degree air from the center vent before cleaning it. I am now getting 125 degree air from the vent. It's nice to have heat when it's 2 degrees outside.
