Career History
Tasks include interlibrary loan, literature searches (PubMed), Internet searching, binding, serials, and statistics. Created library webpage. Teach Residents PubMed searching techniques.
Plan and supervise the daily operational and administrative functions of all Interlibrary Loan/Document Delivery services for the library. Tasks include lending and borrowing materials
using Quickdoc, OCLC and a variety of commercial vendors. Responsible
for verifying references, copyright reporting, preparing customized computer reports detailing requests and ILL usage, develop procedures, write and maintain documentation and keep and evaluate records and statistics,
process rush/clinical emergency requests, prepare billing invoices and monitor payments, giving new-employee-orientation library tours, and answering reference questions. Member of the Health Science
Libraries Consortium Interlibrary Loan Task Force. Knowledge of print and online
resource sources (Internet, Medline, Science Citation Index, Chemical Abstracts, etc.), Macintosh
and PC experience (Wordperfect, Microsoft Windows 98, Microsoft Word 97, Microsoft Publisher 98, Microsoft Excel, Powerpoint etc.).
Responsible for maintaining journal holdings (print and online). Tasks included binding journals,
holdings list, inventory of journals and abstracts and updating Union Catalog
of Medical Periodicals. Supervised 3-4 volunteer workers and 1 part-time
employee, answered reference questions, maintained reprints file and in
charge of general maintenance of library.
Assisted teaching staff in establishing lesson plans, group activities and bulletin boards for approximately 30 children.
Responsible for over-all maintenance of book department. Tasks included
customer service, merchandising, marketing, supervision of staff, loss
prevention and basic operations. Created original designs for flyers, signing
and displays.
