The perfect stillness of evening was just like it always was over the land of Tantagel. Nothing broke the peaceful night air, until a subtle thud sounded. Ed Vhaugman looked over his handy work, as the Giant Spider, Drxxlrd, had met his blade for the last time. Ed beamed.
Grizwald labored skillfully in his mine, busily working out the iron and steel that would soon be used in some new weapons he had already drawn up plans for. "Grizzy", as some of his friends called him, had no idea what awaited the few who ventured out this particular calm eve.
London rested underneath a tree, reading a book he was really enjoying. He was through with training for the day, and just wanted to relax.
All three of them, who could see one another in clear view, were suddenly startled by an uncommon noise. Almost immediately, the uncommon noise was followed by an uncommon site. A monsterous Wind Dragon running like a bat out of Hell stomped to a halt in the middle of the crowd and looked them over. It slowly took to scowling as if to challenge the three unprepared warriors. London carefully marked his place in the book and stood up so he wouldn't be caught off-guard. Grizwald quickly popped his head out of the mine to see what the noise was about, and Ed turned from his slayed spider to look over the new challenge. The dragon took pleasure in knowing it was now noticed, and gave a little greeting. Wind Dragon: "Grrrrrrraaawww!!" Grizwald: "Well, ain't he a darn ugly thing."
The dragon's eyes narrowed as he began to pick his target. Ed remained still, but London quickly equiped himself with his staff, and Grizwald with his swords. The dragon wasted no time in knocking London's staff away with his tail, and London froze in awe and new respect for his superior opponent. Ed continued to wait for his moment, and the dragon glowered at Grizwald while London prepared a new attack, the rocks rising into the air ready to fly at his command. Grizwald pointed his sword at the dragon as Ed finally readied his mace.
Ed lunged and attacked, but the dragon overwhelmed him with a lightning-fast counter-attack of five devastating claw slashes that sent Ed to the ground, no longer able to fight. Ed: "Oh dear..."
The Wind Dragon picked up Ed's fallen body with his tail, and slammed him into the rocky terrain, breaking his bones and winning screams of pain from Ed. London used the moment to finish his attack, and the rocks streamed into the dragon's side. Kraww: "THERE you are!! Foolish dragon."
The dragon spun around immediately to face Kraww, seeming not to even notice London's attack.
Kraww: "This dragon trespassed on my land..."
Grizwald hurried to Ed's side with a potion, effectively saving his life. Kraww spun his enormous broadsword and charged at the dragon, pure swordskill shining through his every move, generating more attacks in a single rush than the heroes would ever expect. Grizwald's jaw dropped until it almost hit the ground. London: "Oh my God!!!!"
The dragon, however, dodged. A swirl of wind energy surrounded it as it prepared its attack, and unleashed a Gust 4 at Kraww. The shockwave of the spell alone put enough pressure on Ed, Grizwald, and London to make them need to pop their ears. Kraww: "Damn you!!"
Kraww took off with another gallant attack, this time succeeding to injure the dragon.
Meanwhile, Ed looked up at Grizwald, still confused about the life saving potion. Ed: "Kind of the last person I expected that from." Grizwald: "Hey, we got to stick together, it isn't about petty differences anymore, we need to help each other or we are gonna die." London: "Look at them!! They are way too powerful!!!!"
Ed looked, and then shuddered, sorry he had. Ed: "How can anything get that strong?"
The dragon had screamed and fired a barrage of wind blades at Kraww, who fell back from the blow, but soon collected himself up and prepared to attack again. Grizwald: "I don't know, but I kind of pity the dragon."
Kraww rushed the dragon a final time, and took its head off with one solid swing of his broadsword.
Kraww spun his broadsword again to show off, and resheathed it at his side. Kraww: "Good people. You may call me Kraww. I am the ruler of all Tantagel. ... Never forget that."
Grizwald and London stared on in amazement, unable to answer. Ed finally found his way back to his feet, and Kraww looked over at him. Kraww: "You there, are you still alive?"
Ed nodded weakly. Kraww: "I'm amazed." Grizwald: "Wow, I met the ruler of all Tantagel!"
Grizwald and London both bowed to Kraww. Ed: "We are forever grateful, sir." Kraww: "Let that dragon be a lesson to you. Never challenge me."
Kraww, the Dark Knight savior of the day, then turned and walked off without a word. The three heroes looked on in wonder until he could no longer be seen. London: "Hmph."
