Recent News:

The Flyers made a whole slew of moves around draft time. The key move was the signing of John LeClair to a five-year contract. They took defenseman Jeff Woywitka first in the draft.

The Flyers traded forward Dean McAmmond to the Calgary Flames in exchange for a fourth round pick in the 2002 NHL Entry Draft. McAmmond was acquired by the Flyers from the Chicago Blackhawks in exchange for a third round pick in the 2001 NHL Entry Draft on March 13, 2001. McAmmond recorded 11 goals and 17 assists for 28 points and 43 penalty minutes in 71 games this past season. He registered a goal and an assist in 10 games for the Flyers.

The Flyers traded the New York Islanders' fourth round pick in the 2001 NHL Entry Draft (98th overall) to the Nashville Predators in exchange for a fourth round pick (110th overall), a fifth round pick (146th overall) and a seventh round pick (208th overall) in the 2001 NHL Entry Draft.

The Flyers traded the Nashville Predators' fourth round pick (110th overall) in the 2001 NHL Entry Draft to the Carolina Hurricanes in exchange for a third round pick in the 2002 NHL Entry Draft.

The Flyers traded a fourth round pick (123rd overall), a compensatory fifth round pick (138th overall) and a seventh round pick (219th overall) to the Tampa Bay Lightning in exchange for a third round pick in the 2002 NHL Entry Draft.

The Flyers traded an eighth round pick in the 2001 NHL Entry Draft (252nd overall) and a ninth round pick in the 2002 NHL Entry Draft to the Tampa Bay Lightning in exchange for a seventh round pick in the 2002 NHL Entry Draft.

The IHL folded, and there are now 6 more teams in the AHL. I can't help but wonder what happened to the guys who were on the other teams.

Manitoba Moose- Winnipeg, Manitoba

Milwaukee Admirals- Milwaukee, Wisconsin

Utah Grizzlies- Salt Lake City, Utah

> Grand Rapids Griffins - Grand Rapids, Michigan

> Chicago Wolves - Chicago, Illinois

> Houston Aeros- Houston, Texas

There will also be teams in Bridgewater, CT and Manchester, NH, bringing the AHL to a record high of 30 member teams.

The league expects to have all teams in order by 2003.

My Observations:

The Flyers, who have had a busy summer, need to settle the Lindros saga. The man needs to play.
