Religion is progressive as science. In corresponding proportion as man's spiritual nature unfolds and develops does he receive a larger revelation of the Divine wisdom. This wisdom is always about him, infinite as the atmosphere, and it's only limitation is in his individual capacity to receive. Nothing is permanent save spiritual energy, and that is continually advancing and conquering new territory .

Let us live in ourselves he urges, often it is not we who live, but it is the world that lives in us. The most sacred shrine of the soul is invaded, dominated, profaned by outside forces.

St. Bonaventura devised a dualism with the image of a mirror to distinguish between earthliness and divinity. He wrote of the mirror of creation ( speculum inferius ) and the mirror of God ( speculum superius ) dealing for the most part with the former concept. For him the mirror of creation produced a hierarchy of reflections from God downward. This was the chain of being. But his conception of it was more imaginative. " An angel is also a most pure mirror, although it is spotless in its act, it is nevertheless sullied in its potency., in which the divine image shines. All creation is said to be a mirror, also, since the invisible things of God are represented in it, as it were through a trace of him. "
Compared with the angels man is a far inferior mirror: he is tarnished because his soul is restricted to his body, which is subject to dissolution. Despite these imperfections man still manage to reflect the divine images because God directly illuminates the intellectual faculty of the human soul and allows it a dim perception of unchangeable truths.
The lowest mirrors are material things that contain no rational soul. Consequently they cannot produce an image of God but only a faint trace. Like Paul, Bonaventura regarded the universe as a "glass" through which we see God "darkly". Compared with the mirror of creation, the mirror of God was unique, and Thomas Aquinas a contemporary of Bonaventura considered two ways of looking at it.

Synchronicity is a form of mirror test. People see in the mirror of events around them the image of their own inner life. They see what they think, feel and believe. They even see their fantasies about what causes these reflections. Everyone has experienced meaningful coincidences. They are explained by supernatural and religious beliefs, archetypal influences, or more exotic personal mythologies. SE mirrors these beliefs back to the observer. SE often are mistaken for confirmations of the objective reality of personal beliefs. Most people are looking into the mirror of SE every day. They don’t realise the images they see are their own thoughts.
