May 5 I'm not sure where I am right now. At the moment, Félix, Sébastien, Guillaume (I met them all for the first time at the airport) and I are en route to Shanghai. My best guess says we're somewhere around/over Alaska right now. We're supposed to pass over Anchorige at some point. Montreal time is currently 5:50 pm on May 5, but it's May 6 in Shanghai. Catch Me If You Can is the first of 3 in-flight movies. We have roughly another 10 hours on this flight. On the flight from Montreal to Vancouver, I had the privilege of meeting Félix's girlfriend's cat, which is apparently having an identity crisis: It thinks it's a chicken. The poor thing doesn't even have a name. In Vancouver, we purchased a bottle of Duty Free Southern Comfort and several bottles of orange juice. We've been feeling pretty happy ever since! Anyway, once we finally reach Shanghai, (it'll be about 3:00 pm), we'll finally meet up with Mia, Arthur and Luc. They all left on Sunday. In the meantime, ugh, my foot's asleep!
What's really interesting is the amount of people on this flight with masks on their faces. Some people are taking this SARS thing pretty seriously. There were a few people at the airport in Vancouver wearing masks. Of course, they were all heading for Shanghai. When we got on the airplane, the steward(esse)s were handing out Quarantine Declaration forms. On these forms, we have to describe any possible SARS symptoms we are currently experiencing. Although this may have been alarming to some, I'm still not worried.
