Our First Day!
Mood:  happy
Topic: June 9.2005

We are on our way! We started our trip with the Fords at the intersection of 36 and 63 stopping to have breakfast at the R&R Junction. The early morning sun was shining on our backs. Can you guess which way we were going? We rode 247 miles the first day and spent the night in St. Louis. We were tired because we didn't sleep much the night before. We stopped at many places along the way. Do you see me sitting on the Heritage bike? That's my driver, Larry, Dorothy (AKA:Mrs. Myers) Chuck, and Nancy, our navigator. We got to Springfield and Route 66 by noon. We ate lunch at the Cozy Dog. The cozy dogs were great!

I probably will talk a lot about food. It's something we all enjoy doing, EATING GOOD FOOD! This is where the cozy dog was invented by a man named Edwin Waldmire They were great with root beer! We did more than eat all day. We stopped to walk across the The Old Chain of Rocks Bridge. Mrs. Myers sat me on this post. She had to hold me down. This bridge is special because it does not go straight but curves as it goes across the Mississippi River near St. Louis, Missouri. This brigde is no longer used by cars. It is a biking and running trail for people to enjoy. You can see this bridge from 270 as you drive into Missouri.
