Burmese Rohingya Association in Japan (BRAJ)

 

 

 

 

INTRODUCTION

 

Burmese Rohingya Association in Japan (BRAJ), was formed at Omiya City, Saitama Ken, Japan, on 16th August 1994. It is an International Organisation of overseas Rohingyas working for the restoration of democracy in Burma and the rights of the Rohingya people. 

          

The main objective of BRAJ is to restore democracy in Burma and to get equal rights for Rohingyas.

            


 

ACTIVITIES

 

On January 13,2002, the annual meeting of BRAJ  was held at Sannomarugeijustsu hall in Tatebayashi city, Gunma-ken. At annual meeting, BRAJ issued a statement.

On 22nd April to 28th June 2001, Burmese Rohingya Association in Japan (BRAJ) has  carried out an assignment  reporting a comprehensive details of the Rohingyas situation residing in homeland Arakan and in refuge in Bangladesh.

On January 20, 1999, BRAJ participated in the demonstration in protest against the visit of military delegation headed by Deputy Chief of Military Intelligence Brig. Kyaw Win, which complied to cancel their visit to Osaka.

            

On 23 May 1999, they organised demonstration against the Burmese Embassy’s stage show, resulting the removal of the Ambassador by the Burmese government.

The Declaration of BRAJ

            The 7th anniversary annual meeting of the “Burmese Rohingya Association in Japan” (BRAJ) was held on 7th January 2001 at Sannomarugeijutsu Hall in Tatebayashi City, Guna-ma Ken. Japan. All BRAJ members living in Japan attended it. It deliberated on various issues covering Political and Socio-Economic crisis in Burma, the deteriorating situation of the Rohingya and other Burmese People both at home and abroad. The heart-rending condition of Burmese refugees including the Rohingya and helplessness and hardship of the Rohingya and other Burmese people in alien lands. The meeting discussed with due emphasis the condition of the Burmese Rohingya and other Burmese Nationals living in Japan, in particulars, all the participants expressed that to collectively help solve the problems and difficulties being faced by Rohingya and other Burmese Nationals in Japan. And to carry on the social Welfare activities among them while living in different Socio-Cultural environment in Japan.

            Accordingly, the BRAJ is going to declare the following objectives: -  

  1. To struggle together with all the nationalities of the country, in order to end the MILITARY DICTATORSHIP in Burma and to restore DEMOCRACY, HUMAN RIGHTS and FREEDOM with the equality and SELF DETERMINATION of all national groups of the country and to reconstruct and rebuild the BURMA UNION on the basis of genuine FEDERALISM.  

  2. To work hand in hand with all other Burmese political groups and their representatives in the matter of Burma Affairs.  

  3. To strengthen friendship and co-operation with all Burmese nationalities in Japan.  

  4. To develop and strengthen friendship with Japanese people.  

  5. To organize and consolidate the union of the Rohingyas in Japan.  

  6. To under take social welfare activities among the Rohingya  in Japan.  

  7. To collectively solve problems and difficulties of the Rohingya people living in Japan.  

  8. To co-operate and work together with Rohingya political forces in matter of Rohingya Affairs.
