Hi Thanks for stopping in our little spot on the Super Highway!
Because I've not seen or talked to many of you in a long time I thought I'd share with you a bit of what has been going on in my life...
I am not sure where to start…I guess I'll start when I first got married… I got married to Cherie in August of 1980. Our first child, Holly, was born October 18 of 1981. Holly was born with a learning disability and is still trying to make things work for her. My first son, Patrick, was born May 6 of 1983, and our youngest son, Simon, was born January 16 of 1985. We were married, raising our 3 kids together in Cornelius, Oregon until April of 1993. In April she informed me she wasn't happy being a "Mom" and Holly was just too much for her. Our divorce was final in August of 1993. I soon after met my current wife, Lana, in June of 1993; however, we kind of knew each other for a couple of years before that on a business level. I met Lana through my employment in Hillsboro. I would call her place of employment in Seattle, Washington to call in purchase orders for shower doors. We became pretty good friends, and then when my marriage was ending, she became the best friend that my kids or I could have asked for. We first met in person at a baseball tournament that I was coaching in with my son Patrick's team we had out in Banks. She drove down from Seattle to meet us and spend the weekend. (Yes, she stayed in a local motel) Needless to say, we all hit it off pretty well. We would continue to have a relationship with her being there, in Seattle, and me being here for a while. After a couple of months went by, she was driving down every Friday night, and heading back North on Monday morning. In January of 1995, she made the move down here with the kids and I. The kids and I loved having her around, and she accepted and raised the kids as if they were her own. (Their mother wasn't around too much at that time; she had her own "growing" to do.) We all lived together happily, yet still in separate rooms and we decided to take it to the next step, and June 19, 1999 we were married in Maple Valley, Washington. (Yahoo No more separate rooms!) In September of 1999, we sold our house in Cornelius that I, Ron had been in for 20+ years and moved to the city, Hillsboro, where we still currently live.
My short term interests right now are really quite simple……
In January of 2001 my legs got so bad I had to start using a wheelchair I was in a chair for just under a year and it got old quick! I am currently recovering from Fem-Fem bypass surgery that I had in October of 2001. I was still using the chair until Jan. 2002 only if I had to walk a good distance or stand a lot, I'm still building the strength back plus while in the chair I gained over 100 pounds YIKES! By the way, I've lost 28 pounds already. The surgery itself went really well, it was the week or so after it that things started heading downhill. I developed an infection at one of the incision sites, and it ended up going down into the graft that they had put in to allow blood to go to my legs. I spent just under a month in the hospital, and then another month at home flat on my back with a portable IV pump for 6 weeks after that. The infection is being suppressed by the antibiotics that I will be on probably for the rest of my life, but that is better than having to go back into surgery and them having to take out the graft they had put in. Aside from all that, I enjoy making webpages and doing things with pictures on the computer. I enjoy all that I do on the computer. Well, I guess that is enough about me..I will write about my kids now..
First there is Holly, the light of my life, who turned 21 this past October. Yes, she has some difficulties, but she is trying her hardest to overcome any obstacles that she comes in contact with. All through her high school years, Lana & I tried to find something that she would be good at, and enjoyed so she could be a value to our community. She loves children, so we geared her towards a career that has something to do with kids. Her first job out of high school was at Children's World in Beaverton, she remained there for about a year, and then the economy caught up with them as well and she was let go. She has had a hard time finding anything else, but I am happy to say that at this time, she has just found a job at a Children's Day School in Beaverton.
Then there is Patrick who was 19 in May. Patrick has had a difficult year. On June 21, 2001 he was in a terrible car accident in which he was thrown from the car as it rolled down a 75 ft embankment. He was life flighted from outside of Banks to Emanual Hospital in Portland. He spent 9 days in ICU, the first couple were the worst of my life, and his too I am sure. When he was ejected from the car, based on his injuries, he apparently landed on his face. His cheekbones, nasal cavity, upper jaw and forehead were crushed. He had 3 steel plates and 19 screws put in to repair the damage. Thank God he is recovering well, with just slight permanent effects. The most noticeable would be his short fuse he has now. He tends to get angry fairly quickly, but that we can deal with…At least he is still with us. He had planned on going to college and continuing playing Football but the car crash ruined his plans. He'll play no more football, that was his love! Just recently Patrick mentioned he might enjoy being a trainer for a football team and we're doing all we can to support his new found idea.
Last, but certainly not least, there is Simon, who will be 18 in January. Simon is the ultimate sportsman. He plays football, baseball, and wrestles, and attends Hillsboro High School full time. Simon will graduate this year, and is basically living the time of his life right now. He is planning to go to college, U of O he thinks but which one "fot sure" we don't know yet, but he does want to continue his education, and once he puts his mind to something, he will get it done, one way or another…LOL
OK, so now I will turn this over to my lovely wife, Lana and she can fill you all in on her life before moving to Oregon.
Hi…I was born and raised in the same town that Ron & I got married in. You could almost see the house I grew up in from the church! I am the youngest girl of 8 kids, I have 4 brothers (3 older, 1 younger) and 3 sisters (all older). My father passed away when I was 5 and my mother raised us all, by herself. She is the strongest person I know. Anyway, once I graduated high school, I worked in sportswear shop in the office and shipping and receiving, it was one of those businesses that you had to do everything… Then I got the opportunity to work in Inside Sales at a shower door company. OK…First off, just the thought of having to call people and sell things was enough for me to say NO WAY!!, but it ends up that they actually called ME and ordered what they needed..LOL I worked there until I moved down here, then once down in Oregon, I stayed home for the first 6 months to make sure the kids were doing fine with me there and then went to work at a Circuit Board Manufacturer in Forest Grove. I worked the graveyard shift so I could be home when the kids left for school, as well as be there when they got home. I stayed there until February of 2001, at which time I changed jobs to IDT, making silicone wafers, out by the Hillsboro Airport (about 8 minutes from home). I work the day shift now, on a compressed work week, so I work 3 days one week, and 4 days the next week, 12 hour shifts all the time. Needless to say, I LOVE IT!
Well, I can't think of anything else to say, so I will close for now, we hope you enjoyed our page. Below is a couple of pictures we thought we'd share with you.
