DigitalVidding on a Budget

DIGITAL VIDEO IS THE FUTURE - There's no doubt about this. In the next five years (maybe less) vidding will be done on computers and completely (or at least mostly) digital. Do you want to be left behind?

DIGITAL VIDEO IS HERE NOW - "Ah yes," you say, "I've heard how easy digital vid making can be, but isn't it expensive, like thousands of dollars?" The answer is a resounding NO. Digital Vidding can be done for less than $500, lock, stock and barrel.

WHAT'S THIS WEB PAGE ABOUT? - Am I selling something? No. This page is just my way of talking about my hobby. When you finish reading it, give me some feed back and I'll try to include other suggestions. My goal is to show how you too can get into Digital Vidding for a low cost and produce vids that are as good in quality as that being done with people with two s-vhs vcrs. What to know more? Read on!

The Starting Blocks - I assume that you already have a computer, a VCR and a television. Without these things digital vidding is impossible, but you don't need a high quality VCR (though 4 heads are better than two). Also this is a PC page, I know only a little about MACs and am not qualified to give advice. If people have some advice to give on MAC products write me and I'll include it.

Computers - New to the whole idea of digital vidding and want to know what kind of system you'll need to pull it off? Then look at the Computers Section and I'll tell you everything you need to know and to have.

Capture Cards - You could spend thousands on a capture card, but why would you? Check out the Capture Card Section, I review the low end of capture cards and give my opinion. Plus, for those of you who do have a few more bucks to spend, I talk about a couple of the higher end cards too.

Software - Once you get the hardware, its virtually useless without the software. There's a lot of products out there, but some it is not really designed for vidding. Head over to the Software Section to look at my reviews of the software I've used and a couple of great shareware can't-live-without programs.

The Future - Want to look into the crystal ball and see what's coming down the pike? Then The Future Section is for you. Here I review the things that are going to change our lives from next month to the next millennium.

Warning: If you are contemplating upgrading to Adobe Premiere 5.0 please look at my current section on that in The Future Section,

Pick your section and get going!
