Cantrips

The following cantrips are of clerical origin, discovered by adventurers in the buried tomb of Sir Gawaine, on the Isle of Wight. The use of clerical cantrips is limited to 1 cantrip per the level of the cleric, per day.

Heal - By using this cantrip, the cleric can cause 1-2 point of healing to any humanoid creature, at a range of up to 2".  The main drawback of the cantrip is that all targets automatically attempt a save vs. magic unless unconcious or physically touched by the cleric.  The cleric cannot attack or have weapons in hand when working the cantrip. The verbal component is, "By the grace of [cleric's deity] , I heal thee." The semantic gesture is the brushing of the middle 3 fingers of the right hand across the knuckles of the left hand.

Clarity - The use of this cantrip will clarify any mind which has been befuddled by the effects of alcohol. The verbal component of the cantrip is, "I'll never drink again...", repeated over and over while performing the semantic portion. The latter consists of the right hand grasping a phantom mug and pouring out the contents, while while the left hand pinches the bridge of the nose, near the eyes. This cantrip is not fondly looked upon by the followers of Dionysus.

Clearwater - The use of this cantrip is to identify holy or unholy water, or to ascertain whether holy water has been tainted or poisoned. If the water is unholy, it will turn black and smell stagnant. If the water has been tainted or altered in any way, it will turn green. If, however, the water is pure holy water, the cleric will get a good feeling from it and no change will occur. The container of water must be passed in front of the cleric's holy symbol, while the cleric waves his right hand from side to side.  The verbal component is the name of the cleric's deity.

FAERIE CANTRIP

This writing was translated magically, and found to be the only known instance of the Sylph language in written form. Any person, whether a mage or not, who has an Intelligence of 17 can pronounce the symbols closely enough to make the cantrip work. The aroma of an evergreen forest will permeate the area of 4"x 4" indoors, or 10"x 10" outdoors. The scent will last for 2 turns before beginning to dissipate.
