Assessment may be done in several ways, and should be ongoing. The teacher should evaluate the accuracy of data collected, and charts created by the students.
SOLAR COLLECTOR DESIGN: This is a 'hands on" assessment activity. If students fully understand concepts of heat transfer and solar energy, they should be able to explain and justify their design. You may want to set limits on materials and size.

PEER ASSESSMENT: Members of each group will evaluate one another based upon contribution to the project. Things to consider: Did each member have a clearly defined role? Did everyone participate equally?
