This is a
'hands on" assessment activity. If students fully understand concepts
of heat transfer and solar energy, they should be able to construct
and design a solar collector. You may want to set limits on materials
and size. Repeat the procedure from the original experiment. Students
can then compare whether their personal designs made a significant
difference in the change in temperature and calories
produced.
