Method of Extraction: Usually by means of the enfleurage method but also by way of distillation/solvent extraction (from the white blossoms of the
bitter orange tree). The oil is a pale yellow colour with a bitter taste.
Place of origin: A native of China, it is now cultivated in France, Italy, Tunisia and the
U.S.A.
Areas where this oil can help:
1. Sedative - anti-depressant

3. Diminishes cardiac contraction
Effects on mind:
- Invaluable for relieving nervous problems, chronic and short-term anxiety (including
panic attacks), lifting depression and instilling feelings of euphoria.
Effects on body:
- Reducing insomnia, especially that caused by anxiety.
- Effective for combatting colitis, chronic diarrhoea and nervous indigestion.
- Effective for sexual problems such as impotence and frigidity caused by tension and
apprehension.
- Wonderful for all skin types. It encourages the regeneration of skin cells and works
wonders for mature skins.
- Recommended for preventing stretch marks and reducing scars.
- Its gentle nature makes it ideal for sensitive skins.
- * Its reputed aphrodisiac quality arises from its ability to calm nervous apprehension
felt before any sexual encounter rather than from a hormonal/stimulant effect. As
many difficulties of this nature can result from tension and anxiety causing further
anxiety and depression, neroli can be a means of overcoming them.
