Place of Origin: Mediterranean, Yugoslavia, parts of Hungary and Iran.
Method of Extraction: Steam distilled from the flowering tops of the plant. It is yellowish
in colour, darkening to brown as it ages and consists of a warm, penetrating aroma.
Areas where this oil can help:
1. Anti-inflammatory for arthritis
2. High blood pressure
3. Detoxifying muscles
Effects on mind:
- Has a warming and comforting effect on the emotions - easing grief, sadness and
depression, and relieving all states of anxiety.
- ** It should not be abused as overuse can cause a deadening effect on the emotions.
Effects on the body:
- One of the best oils for the respiratory system, it encourages deeper breathing in
conditions such as asthma, bronchitis and colds.
- Helps to clear the head where there is catarrh and sinusitis.
- Excellent for alleviating pain, coldness and stiffness as related to arthritis and
rheumatism. Also helps to disperse bruises.
- Recommended for relieving constipation, flatulence, stomach cramps and indigestion.
- Regulates the heart as well as reducing high blood pressure and palpitations. Also helpful in alleviating painful and irregular menstruation.
- Being an anti-aphrodisiac, its action lessens both emotional response and physical sensation.
- It is also a good remedy for excessive sexual impulses (i.e. nocturnal orgasm, obsessive masturbation, nymphomania, especially when associated with hysteria).
