Method of Extraction: Steam distilled from the flowers and flowering tips.
Place of Origin: Native to Italy, syria and souther France. The oil is clear and has a nutty
aroma, with a warm, moderately bitter taste.

Effects on mind:
- Euphoric sedative oil indicated for panicky and overactive states of mind.
- Induces a sense of well-being and optimism.
- Creates a "padding" between you and the outer world.
Effects on body:
- A tonic for the womb, it balances hormones and provides relief from muscular cramps.
- Excellent for childbirth, it encourages labour at the same time promoting relaxation.
- Useful for those trying to come off drugs.
- As an aphrodisiac, its many properties have proven useful for couples experiencing a
"bad patch" in a relationship.
- This oil is also probably ne of the most powerful relaxants known in aromatherapy.
Effects on spirit:
- Invaluable for balancing the solar plexus.
- It can also balance an overactive "third eye".
Special Precautions:
- Large doses should not be taken together with alcohol as it could produce a narcotic
effect.
- As the oil is very sedative and can make concentration difficult, it is best not to use on
someone who will be doing much driving.
- It should also not be used during pregnancy as it can have an emmenagogue action.
