All About Me, Cloudy!

Hi, my name is Cloudy Tinwick. If you read this page, you will already know a little bit of the stuff on this page. That's ok, because most of it will be new stuff!

Anyway, my name is Cloudy Tinwick. When I lived with "family 1", my name was "Winston"! Then I moved in with "family 2", and they named me Cloudy after the book Cloudy With A Chance of Meatballs. If you have never read it, hop on down to the library and check it out! It's a great book. When I moved in with "family 3", family 2 asked to keep my name the same. Still, my family changed my name to Bigwig. "Bigwig" is a character in the book Watership Down. I've never read that book; it's pretty long, but Cloudy With A Chance of Meatballs is nice and short. Well, the name "Bigwig" lasted for about a day. Then my name was changed back to Cloudy. I kinda look cloudy. I am a male Netherland Dwarf rabbit. I am mostly gray, but I have a thin white stripe that comes down one side and over to my front feet. I have some pictures of me on this site (the scanner broke after a few pictures, though), and hopefully I'll have more up here soon. My mom just loves taking pictures of me doing everything: playing, sleeping, eating, and even going to the bathroom. Mommas can be silly, huh? Anyway, my eyes are a gray/blue color. Out of Magic and me, I am the bigger, dominant bunn. In fact, I am about 2.75 pounds! That's pretty big for a Netherland Dwarf rabbit, so my mom thinks I'm probably a "cross-breed".

If any of the cats comes into the room, I hide behind a basket or table where she can't see me. I like to explore and look for adventure. I am pretty relaxed. I love to just stretch out and take a little nap. If there's danger, I get scared, but then I'm right back to my adventuring! When I grow up I want to be an explorer. Who says bunnies can't persue careers? Equal rights for everybunn! >:3)

I love to dig and play. I have a little stack of newspaper that I just dig and dig until it's all shredded up! I used to have a sofa pillow that didn't "match" anymore and so was given to me. I couldn't rip it open or pull out the stuffing, but it made a neat noise when I was digging! Sometimes, if I had it with me on the couch and I was digging, I would be so involved in my digging that I would back up right over the edge of the couch! But I would just go back to my pillow again! I also like to dig people too; it makes a funny "EEK!" noise. One of my other favorite toys is an empty pop can. I like to pick it up with my teeth when I'm in my cage and drag it along the wire of my cage. It makes a very nice "clankity clank" sound. I also have an empty toilet paper roll that I like to chew and throw around. I really love my litter box because it's fun to dig in! I go into the litter box in the bunny barn and just dig and dig and dig! I have my momma all trained to vaccuum it up and put it back in my litter box and stuff so I can dig it and throw it around some more. It's great fun! I kick a lot of straw and litter out though. That makes momma a little mad, but like I said, she's perfectly trained to clean up after me, so I take advantage of the situation. All that stuff is fine and dandy, but you haven't heard about one of the best places yet: my rabbit run!

After Mommy got us, she and her dad started building the run. They worked and worked and worked. All of their work really payed off! Mommy puts straw in it so Magic and I can hop around and have fun! There was a divider in it so we had our own sides, but after we got neutered Mommy took the divider out. Now when we're out in the rabbit run (the rabbit run is outside), we get to play together and snuggle! It's a lot of fun. I wish everybunn had a rabbit run! (tee hee! I made a rhyme!) Mommy doesn't let us play in the rabbit run at night, and sometimes she comes in and sits in it with us! That's because it is so big. She says it's 8 feet long, 4 feet wide, and 4 feet tall! WOW! That is BIG! We also only get to play in it in the summer when it isn't too hot or too rainy or too much of any kind of bad weather.

I love to eat. Pellets used to be my favorite, but when I moved in with Mommy I got to eat vegetables and fruit (fruit for treats) and not as much pellets. I used to also eat alfalfa hay, but now I eat Timothy hay, for alfalfa hay isn't as good for bunnies as Timothy hay. Well, after I started eating vegetables and fruits, I got to liking them more than pellets. I still love pellets, but vegetables are number one! Once when I was at the vet he said I should have papaya tablets for my digestion. I have pretty bad digestion, I guess. Momma got some papaya tablets and ground them up. Then she put the papaya tablet "powder" into a Tupperware spice shaker. She sprinkles a little on my food and on Magic's too. When we aren't hungry, the papaya powder makes us want to eat! My favorite treats are raisins. I eat them right out of my momma's hand! They are really yummy, but I can't eat too many at a time or I get diarrhea, and momma says they are high in sugar. I'm the same way with Craisins. In fact, I've been known to steal Magic's share of Craisins! They give me diarrhea sometimes. Momma doesn't give me very many becaue of that, and they're only an occassional treat. Plus they are really high in sugar too. That high-sugar stuff must not be very good. I saw an ad in a bunny magazine once for "Yogurt drops". They looked so good! And they sounded deliscious! My momma talked to the House Rabbit Society people and my vet though, and she found out yogurt drops are really bad for us bunns. That's because they're almost pure sugar, and it can kill a bunny! Well, after I heard that, I completely abandoned my desire for yogurt drops! Anyway, back to my story, when I steal Magic's Craisins I get diarrhea. I guess two servings of Craisins are just too many.

Like I said before, I don't have very good digestion. Because of that, I get diarrhea a lot. Mostly it isn't from eating Craisins or raisins, but sometimes I just GET it. When I get it I usually get it all over my back feet and tail, and sometimes I get it on my tummy. When that happens I have to take a bath. Sometimes I have to take a bath once a week because I get a lot of diarrhea! I usually don't like baths, but one time it was so nice and cool I just relaxed! Momma had to hold me up while I was taking that bath because I wouldn't do it myself! I wanted to go to sleep! Usually though I kick and jump and splash. Baths can be kinda stressful, and a lot of people don't give rabbits baths right. My momma put together a page on her web page about giving bunnies baths. You can look at it here. I take my baths in a roasting pot! Momma puts it on the floor or in the bathtub, and she puts water in it. She has a rabbit shampoo that Magic and I use. Momma says it makes me smell like a salon!

Other than my diarrhea, I get other health problems too. In the month of April 2000, I had to go to the vet to get my teeth checked. It turned out I wasn't even using one side of my mouth to eat, and so those teeth were all overgrown and nasty colored. Some of my teeth were loose and had formed cysts. Yuck. I also had an underbite. I had to go have a surgery to have my teeth shaved down, the loose teeth removed, my teeth cleaned, and my incisor teeth cut down so they'd grow back normally. Then, about a week later, my mom found a bump on my hind left leg. So, it was back to the vet. The vet looked at it and poked it and took a "sample" of it (I didn't feel anything though). He said there were lots of cells there. A few days later I had to go back to the vet and have it removed. I had to get four stitches! The vet sent it in to a lab for a biopsy though, and thank goodness it was a benine tumor. My mom was afraid I might have had cancer, but I didn't!

That's about all I can think to say now, so I guess if I think of more I'll update this page!
