The Completed Black Orc
Well, the black orc seems to have taken on a life of its own!
Firstly - I am sorry about the missing stages on the previous page - I got carried away with the painting and forgot to scan him in when I meant to!
Once I had finished painting him I was actually surprised to be quite pleased with the result. (It may not look it but I would say it was one of if not the best of my Orc models to date). To that end I decided I would try to make something a little bit special out of it. It was too late to actually convert the Black Orc Himself so all that could be done was to give him a really nice scenic base.
I have a personal Hate for the Chaos - in all of the GW games - Epic, Warhammer, Warhammer 40K etc. I decided to make a base with a Chaotic champion on his knees either in a last chance defense or Pleeing for Mercy. I remembered that somewhere in my bits box I had a (very) old Elf model - which had a great Mohican, so on the basis of a hair do this was to be my Champion.
Some heavy re-positioning of the arms and legs made him look as though he was kneeling on the ground after receiving a massive blow from the Black Orc's Axe. I replaced his left arm with a tenticle made from green stuff and he was looking pretty good! I then removed the Spear which he had been carrying in his right hand and replaced it with a Skeleton Sword, in a last defensive gesture guarding his face. He looked mean but pathetic - Perfect!
I now had a base with a great Black Orc, and a sniveling Chaos worshiper but I felt the base (a Warhammer monster base) was still a little empty. Returning to my Skeleton army I beheaded another trooper (My skeleton army is a dying race!) and picked the bits of the spear back out of the bits box. Crafting a very simple mound out of a bit of balsa wood, and positioning the spear on top of this as through it was going through the skull the base was complete.
Paint, Glue, and some static grass and it was done! And thats HOW (NOT) TO PAINT A BLACK ORC!!
