Chapter 5

I heard a car in the driveway and looked out the window. Isaac's black porshe was pulling in. I called for Taylor, who had been playing with Joey. He walked in, holding Joey close. He had dressed him up in a cute blue playsuit. Taylor didn't look too bad himself. He was wearing a pair of black slacks and a long-sleeved green shirt.

He walked up and kissed my neck. "You look beautiful." he said.

"Thanks." I said, kissing him. I wasn't really that dressed up. I was wearing black velvet pants and a red sweater. We both looked very christmasy even though it was almost February.

There was a knock at the door. Taylor went to open it. Drew and Isaac walked in, holding hands. I set down the pot I was holding and ran to hug my older sister and Ike.

I hugged and kissed Drew and did a little chit-chat before I hugged Isaac. He said hello, then went to see what I was cooking.

Drew said, "Where's my precious little nephew?"

"Right here." Taylor said, handing Joey to Drew.

"Hey pumpkin! Drew exclaimed, bouncing Joey.

Taylor and Isaac went into the living room, leaving me alone with Drew and Joey. I began to set the table while Drew talked baby talk to Joey.

"So how is school?" Drew asked, breaking the silence.

"Pretty good. Classes are hard..."

"How are you and Taylor doing...relationship wise?" Drew asked cautiously. Ever since the moment I told her that I was pregnant, she had been worried that Taylor was going to leave me and that I was going to get hurt.

"We're great. I'm really happy." I said.

"You're holding back Sophia...I can tell." she said.

"You know me too well." I said. "I am really happy and all, but as I was telling Taylor yesterday, it just wasn't supposed to happen like this."

"Sophia, everything happens for a reason."

"That's exactly what Taylor said!" I exclaimed. "And Diana." I had had the same talk with Diana the night before.

"Well if you won't listen to them, listen to me." Drew said. "Everything's going to be okay."

"I guess so." I said truthfully. "I mean, I AM happy and all. Most girls who are mothers at my age aren't happy, but I really am. It's hard work and I stay busy, but I'm happy this way."

"I know you are. I just worry about you sometimes." she said. "Isn't that what big sisters are supposed to do?"

"Yeah." I said, giving her a hug and kiss on the cheek.

I finished setting the table. "Can you run get the guys and put Joey in his swing?"

"Sure, I'll be right back."

When Isaac, Taylor, and Drew got back, Isaac said a short blessing, then we all dug in.

A few minutes into the meal, Drew set her fork down. "Alright guys." she paused. "I can't hold it in any longer." she said, smiling broadly.

I looked over at Isaac. He also looked VERY happy. "Tell them Isaac." Drew said.

"Okay, we have some news." Isaac said, almost bursting at the seams. "Drew and I are getting married!"

"AHHH!" I screamed. "Are you serious?"

"Yes!" Drew screamed. She jumped up an hugged me.

Taylor also seemed pretty excited, although he looked as if he was thinking something over.

For the rest of the meal, we talked about their wedding plans.

***

That night, as Taylor and I curled up in bed, I thought about the day that I would be able to tell Drew the same thing she had just told me; that I was getting married. To Taylor, of course. One day, I hoped. One day soon.
