The door opened and Zac's head peeked in. "Hey Sophia. How's Tay?"
"I think he's better...What are you doing here?" I asked.
"I just stopped by to see how Taylor was doing. I have a date with Tara in 15 minutes, but I had to make sure he was okay first."
"Yeah, Tara told me that you asked her out. That's really sweet Zac." I smiled.
Zac smiled back. "I gotta go. See you tomorrow." Zac said, slipping out of the room quietly.
I smiled to myself. I knew Zac and Tara would be perfect for each other. Tara was kinda quiet while Zac was loud. But they were both stubborn. Very stubborn.
I looked over at Taylor again and sighed. "Hi sweetie. I'm sure you can hear me...I just wanted to tell you again that I love you. I'm so sorry we had that fight last week. I realize now that I was wrong to try and stop you from going somewhere with Isaac...but oh god I wish I had." Tears were filling my eyes again. "I love you..."
The doctor walked in. "Hello Dr. Nelson."
"Hello Sophia. How are you today?" he asked a little too cheerily.
"Pretty good. I'm very tired."
"I bet you are. Have you slept?"
"A little. Not much."
"You need some sleep Sophia. The last thing we need right now is for you to get sick because you aren't sleeping or eating right." Dr. Neslon told me.
"You're right. I'll go home and sleep whenever Diana comes."
"Good." he said. "Now let's get a look at Mr. Taylor here." He pulled back the sheet and felt the cast that was on Taylor's leg. "Seems to be healing nicely...that's very unusual for the position he landed in." He smiled. "That's good."
He checked Taylor over and then turned to Sophia. "I really shouldn't tell you this because I don't want to get your hopes up, but, there's a good chance Taylor will walk again and do other things as well. But it's gonna take a lot of therapy and rehab. Even after Taylor goes home, there will be alot that he will need help with. Do you work during the day, Sophia?"
"No, I go to school."
"So you're gone during the day, right?"
"Yeah, most of it." I said.
"Well, since you can't be there with him, you will have to have a nurse or someone to be with him." Dr. Nelson said.
"Okay." I said.
"That's about all the news I have for now." Dr. Nelson said. "I'll see you later." Dr. Nelson walked out of the room.
I sat there thinking about what the doctor had just told me. How could we afford all this stuff when Taylor was the one making our money. Things weren't supposed to turn out like this. I was supposed to finish highschool and go to college and the get a job and be a mother. From the way things looked right now, it wasn't exactly gonna happen like that...
