My Poetry

Shoulder

give me
a shoulder to cry on
when life gets
too hard

to lean on
when help is needed
for the path ahead

to kiss and caress
when I'm alone
at night with you.

Marmalade on Toast

what does it mean
to watch marmalade
melt into the butter
on my toast.

sitting here
watching the steam rise
from my mug of tea.

are there any profound
thoughts, new insights
I can glean from my breakfast

is the universe validated
by the chemical equation
of tea and toast?

probably not,
I'll just finish this off
and be on my way.

Moment of Weakness

I thought I could
resist the temptation
but I couldn't
so I went ahead
and did it
anyway.

it felt good
still
I know it was
a moment of weakness

and I know
looking back,
I really
shouldn't have.

View from the River

looking at the stillness
of the water in the Bay.
no current, no wind
just the mirrored flatness
of the open water.

no sound but meditation
is attracted by this sight
not thinking but absorbing
the sight of the sky
touching the water.
