New poetry

Stand Still

Stand still
I want to
take a picture of you
with my mind

I'm afraid
my photographic memory
is not an instamatic
so please be still
don't move
I want to study
every curve of your body
and take a deep picture
of the smile
on your face.

Wanted: A Miracle

I looked for a miracle
but none was
forthcoming
I pleaded and begged
but still nothing.

frustrated
I stood up
and was about to leave
when I tripped over
my miracle

It was always there
but I wasn't looking
in the right place.

Dreams

I know I'm dreaming
at least I hope so
running away
from something or
to someone
I'm still not sure
I just know
I've got to run
and so I do
until I see the sun
and hear
the birds chirping
and I think to myself
"it was just a dream,
but why do I feel so tired?"

12:35 AM

I wish...
I could turn off
the thoughts
running through my mind

it always happens
at midnight
I lie here
waiting to stop
all these ideas

so much for sleep
I'd get up
but it's to comfortable
then
a mosquito
starts buzzing in my ear
now I know
sleep will be
hard to come.
