You will need:

Variegated Cotton Yarn (I used Bernat ww Cotton)
H Hook
Needle for sewing button on and weaving in ends.
Shank Button for closure.

MAIN PART:

Row 1. Chain 10, sc in 2nd chain from hook. Sc in next 7 chains and 3 single crochets in the end. Continuing to work on the opposite side of the chain, sc in the next 7 loops, 2 sc in the last loop and join to the top of the first chain.

Row 2. Chain 3, dc in same stitch as joining. *skip one sc, 2 dc in next stitch, continue around. join to the top of the third chain, chain 1. do not turn.

Row 3. Sc in the next stitch and in every stitch around. join to the chain before the first sc.

Repeat Rows 2 and 3 until you have the length that you prefer, being sure to end with the sc row, then begin flap. (I did 11 rows total before I started the flap and my case will fit a Motorola RAZR, Samsung 900, Moto T720 or most other flip phones.) For flat or bar-shaped phones, you can add 4 - 6 more rows. Do not break off yarn, continue with the flap as follows:

FLAP:

Row 1. Join with slip stitch to the ch before the first stitch. Loosely slip stitch in the next 5 sc. chain 1, turn, sc in the same stitch, sc in next 10 sc.

Row 2 - 4. Chain 1, sc in same stitch and across row.

Row 5. Chain 2. skip bottom of this chain, hdc dec over next 2 stitches, skip next stitch, 2 dc in next stitch, skip next stitch, 2 dc in next stitch, skip next stitch, hdc over next 2 stitches, hdc in last.

Row 6. Chain 1, sc dec over first 2 stitches (including the spot at bottom of this chain), sc in next 3 stitches, sc dec over last 2 stiches, turn.

Row 7. Chain 2, hdc over first 2 stitches, chain 1 (this is the buttonhole), hdc over next 2 stitches, hdc in last stitch, turn.

Row 8. Chain 1, (sc dec over next 2 stitches) twice. Finish off, weave end in.

ASSEMBLY:

Sew a cute button in the middle of row 9 of the Main Part. If you want, you can make a strap too but I didn't bec I thought it would be better without it in a purse or pocket.
