Please note there are at least two spellings and possibly more of this surname – Atwell and Attwell.

I would like to take this opportunity to thank some of my cousins who have aided me greatly in compiling this information. Would also DEEPLY appreciate any corrections, additions and further information concerning Joseph Atwell & Elizabeth Knowler [their ancestors, siblings and descendants]. The American cousins would also appreciate any further information on Mary Farley [her ancestors, siblings, etc.].

Trina Willis – Our English cousin! She found us via a message board. Trina has done tremendous research in England and shared a wealth of information with her American cousins. Without her we would have none of our English origins even started nor know of our living English cousins! Trina also descends from one of (#5) Richard Knowler’s children – (#26) Steven Henry Atwell.

All of our American cousins (as far as we can tell at this time) descend from (#17) John Atwell married to Mary Farley. John was the son of (#5) Richard Knowler Atwell.

Diane Stober – Another of our American cousins who has done impressive research on all descendents of (#17) John Atwell . She is descended from (#37) Harriet Atwell.

EXCITING NEWS: We now have an Australian cousin descended from the son of (#1) Joseph Atwell & Elizabeth Knowler – (#10) Peter Knowler Atwell. Will add more information concerning her later. Trina and Diane have been in contact with her; at this point in time I have not.
