Mike knocked on her door again. It was Tuesday, exactly two weeks since Jessica left him, and yet he still wasn't giving up. No way.
"C'mon Jessie, let me in. We need to talk." he cried against the door frame. No was one home, just her. Mr. and Mrs. Hanson took the other's out to eat, they knew they were overwhelming Jessica, but believe me, that didn't know half of it.
"Mike I told you it was over, now stop, please." Jessica leaned herself against her door, tears streaming her pale face. She wasn't feeling well today, and I had told her she needed to take a pregnancy test, just incase it was morning sickness, but I prayed it wasn't. Please, don't let it be, for Jessica's sake. She was trembling, yet her body heated was sky-high. She did take the test, I bought it for her so no one would get suspicious. Not about her anyway. The test was processing itself as they spoke, and she probably could guess the answer.
"Jessica, please, baby I love you."
"No, you don't. You went off and got me and Janey pregnant. How could you do that if you love me?" Jessica screamed, her hands pounding on the door. Mike froze, no, this isn't happening.
"I what? Jessie, please, don't joke." he begged, "Your scaring me baby."
"Baby, that's it Mike, its a freakin' baby."
"Jessica, I'm so sorry. I'm here honey, I promise." he told her, "Please just open up babe, I want to tell you something." Jessica gripped the door knob, hoping that when she opened the door she wouldn't look in his eyes and fall into his arms. He didn't deserve it, he didn't deserve her. Nodding, although Mike couldn't see her, she slowly tugged open the door. Mike looked at her, awed at how beautiful she was. Although she was pale, her eyes were puffy and blood shot, he still found her more beautiful then any creature that graced this earth. "Jessie, listen." He said, reaching toward her. She stepped back, keeping her ground. They both knew that Mike could over-power and if he wanted too, he would of.
"What Mike, make this quick, I need to check the P.T." she told him, almost laughing at the power she know held above his head. At that moment, she thought that maybe a baby was a good thing. It would make Mike stay with her, wouldn't it?
"Janey is pregnant, she says she is. I admit that it might be mine, but I want you to know something." he breathed, gazing into her eyes. She held her ground, still, although her eyes filled with dreaded tears once again. "The only reason I slept with her was because both you and I both knew more then well that I wasn't exactly shooting blanks, and I knew more then well. Jessica, I love you, and if I did anything, like get your pregnant, I would hate myself-" Jessica cut him off.
"You'd hate yourself? You don't think this 'baby' is yours?" she spoke, angered and outraged at his audacity.
"Baby, let me finish!" he scolded her, and she froze instantly. In a way, she was afraid of him, but she knew he would never try to hurt her purposely.. not physically anyway. He sighed, continuing, "I know that if you did get pregnant, your life would be altered for the worse, and I don't want to be the blame for that, although I would love the baby. I'd hate myself for doing it to you, Jessica, I do love you. That's why I knew I could get off with Janey, 'cz she has had abortions ya know, it wouldn't' be the first time for it, I don't care about her. Jessica, I love you." he repeated. She broke, how could now? Wouldn't you? She leaned forward, her tear-stained mouth pressing up upon his. He sighed to himself and lingered close to her for a moment. His hands ran up her arms, when her watch started to beep. Jessica breathed hard into his mouth, sighing, and she pulled way.
"It's done." she whispered, walking to the bathroom. Mike followed her, and kept his hands in hers until they crowded against he sink.
"If it positive Jessica, I love you. If it's negative, I still love you." he kissed her. Jessica understood him, she knew he'd be there, no matter what happened.
"Here we go." she breathed, closing her eyes as she reached for the results. She didn't open her eyes just yet, even after she heard Mike sigh. Was it an angered sigh, or a joyed sigh? She had to open her eyes to read the results, if both of the boxes on the tester each contained one blue strip, she was pregnant. If only the first box had a strip in, which was pink, it was negative. She used the E.P.T pregnancy tester, it was the Error Proof Test, she knew it wouldn't fail her. Slowly, praying to god, she opened her eyes and looked down.
One strip, one box.
One pink strip, first box.
"Ohmigod," she cried, her life was saved, and she felt so happy, it seemed as if she had just died and gone to heaven.
"Your pregnant?" Mike asked, leaning his head down, his lips pressed to her bare neck.
"No. I'm not." she turned her face toward him, tears streaking down her cheeks. One tear glistened gold and pink, and it flowed on top of her nose, and it ran off onto his nose, falling to his lips. He tilted his head up and kissed Jessica hard and passionate.
"I love you Jess, I love you."
"Mm, I know." she smiled, pulling away, "But now that I'm taking you back, don't ever do this to me again." she said, telling him she loved him with another passion-hungry kiss.

This was not happening to me. It can't be happening to me. Why could this be happening to me?
"TAYLOR!" I screamed, worry rushing over me as I slammed the cabinet door shut and ran into the library. I climbed the ladder quickly, until I reached my books. My books. My fingers lingered the last book, it was untitled, and I quickly yanked it out. I closed my eyes as I opened the book. The disk was gone. "TAYLOR!" I screamed again, hurling myself down off the ladder. I went back into the den, hearing Taylor run down the stairs from the bathroom. "TAY! PLEASE!" I called, unlocked my cabinet again. It's only been three days since I've been in my cabinet, only three days. I have the keys, how could I be missing it? Its all missing, everything.
"Mandy? Are you alright?" Tay called, rushing through the den doors.
"Ohmigod Tay, it's all gone. My stuff, my journals my novel floppy- diskettes, my poems, my love letters, Tay its all gone. Even my newest novel, it was stolen right out of my hiding place!" I shrieked, this isn't happening. Taylor looked frantically over my face, and I knew my eyes were watering with worry. No, this is not happening. It can't be.
"How long has it been missing?" he asked, keeping cool. I hated the way he didn't jump frantically into something that maybe me almost cry over, why is he so patient and so calm about this? My life has been taken right from my own home.
"The last time I had everything, it was when Davey was last here, I had come in here to put my reports back." I told him.
Oh. My. God.
I was struck with my reality, I came in to the den to put my reports back because Carmen and December came over. Carmen did have my keys, she did. But she's only six, she couldn't have any place to hide all my stuff! It was well worth a backpack.
"What?" Tay asked, stepping close to me, knowing I hit a light-bulb.
"The last time I was in here was with Carmen and December. Tay, I let Carmen hold my keys, but she's only six. I didn't let her out of my sight, only when I went so show...." I was so confused, my mind was racing. Everything was happening so fast, too much information was bolting to my brain too fast.
"To show??" he questioned. Nice of you to bring comfort to me Tay, I thought to myself, knowing I wasn't angry with him.
"I brought December in here, I told her about the book with my latest novel in it. She and I were the only ones who knew about it. And, Carmen knew the keys went to the cabinet, she saw me put the reports in. And, after I took the books down that Dee wanted to borrow, she still must of had the one with the diskette Tay. When she had all those books, she went to check on Carmen.. ohmigod. Tay, when she came back, she left her purse with her sister." I was not happy. I trust December, how could she do this? Why would she do this? God, I wish I knew.

Carmen giggled, knowing she was wonderful. "See mommie, I snuck it out of the book after Deedee went to get a tissue. I put it in her purse and told her I wanted to carry it out. She didn't know mommie, aren't I good?" she questioned her mother, who stood tall and power filled over her.
"Yes dear, you are good. You will get that toy you wanted now, you were a very big help to mommie dear, I will be needing this." Her mother, Becca Smart was very powerful, she was the editor-in-chief at the Tulsa Times. And when her secret lover, the Editor, told her I was going to be taking her job, she had to do something to threaten me. Something so perfect, and with her lovely daughter, she knew she'd get away with it.
