CHAPTER ONE
We join our heroes Ash, Misty, and Brock walking down a long road, Brock guiding them. "Are you sure this is the way to the next Gym?" Ash asked. "Um..." Brock looked at the map, which was upside-down. "Yeah, I'm pretty sure we're going in the right direction." "Oh brother." Misty moaned. After walking for what seemed like forever, they heard a little sound. "Hey, what's that?" asked Misty. The group walked in the direction of the sound. Finally, they got close enough to hear what it was. Someone, or something, was crying. Not screaming, not moaning, just sobbing softly. "Come on, let's go see what it is!" Ash said, pulling Misty and Brock behind him. After walking through the woods for a long time, Misty spoke up in her loud way. "ASH!!!!!!!! THIS ISN'T HELPING US GET ANOTHER BADGE AND NOW WE'RE LOST!!!!!!!!" "Misty, shut your mouth and look at this!" Ash hissed. Misty stopped yelling and looked at what Ash was pointing at.

CHAPTER TWO
Sitting on a rock was a little, whitish-pink Pokémon with two blue-green eyes. The tiny Pokémon had its head buried in its hands and was sobbing to itself. When it noticed Ash and his friends it jumped up and hid behind the rock. "Let's get this thing on my Pokédex!" Ash said, taking his Pokédex out. He pointed it at the creature, which was now trying to slip away, and let Dexter do his stuff. "Mew. A Psychic Pokémon. It is so rare that it is said to be a mirage by many experts. Only a few people have seen it worldwide." Ash grinned. "Alright, a Mew!" He took out a Pokéball. "I'm gonna catch it!" Mew stared at him. "Pokéball, go!" he cried, throwing the Pokéball at Mew. Mew's eyes flashed. She began to glow. The Pokéball came closer and closer to her. Suddenly, Mew jumped at the Pokéball and punched it. The Pokéball exploded into a thousand pieces. Mew floated back down to the ground and stopped glowing. She looked at Ash. He looked back. "Don't you think that you should weaken me before throwing that thing?" she asked. Ash, Misty, and Brock stared at her.

CHAPTER THREE
"You...you can talk?!" Ash stammered. "Sure, why not?" Mew answered. She looked at the falling debree that was once a Pokeball. "Now why'd you have to go and make me do that?" she demanded, turning her attention back to Ash. "I could have hurt myself!" "Uh, sorry..." Ash said, "It's just that I'm trying to become a Pokemon master..." "With only, let's see," she counted Ash's Pokeballs "One, two, three, four, five Pokemon on you?" Mew asked. "Six counting Pikachu." Misty pointed out. Mew stared at her. "Gosh," she said, looking at her hair. "How do you keep that ponytail so high up on your head?" Misty thought about it. "I don't know, it just stays there." she finally answered. Suddenly, Pikachu heard something in the bushes behind them. "Pika-pika!" he cried. Ash and everyone else turned around. Standing there was Team Rocket! "Prepare for trouble!" "Make it double!" "To protect the world from devestation!" "To unite all peoples within our nation!" "To denounce the evils of..." "STOP THAT STUPID MOTTO!" Ash screamed.

CHAPTER FOUR
Jesse glared at Ash. "Nobody asked you!" she growled. "Sorry," Ash started, "but it gets pretty annoying after a while." Just then, Mew came up behind Ash. "Take a rest." she said, "I'll handle this." "Uh, okay." Ash sat down on a rock. Mew narrowed her eyes at Team Rocket. "Okay, could someone please tell me why they're here so I can get rid of them?" Mew asked. "Well, a while ago, Ash and Pikachu beat up Team Rocket and I think that they're here because they want Pikachu and revenge." Brock said. Mew turned to Ash. "So that's your name." she said. "Okay, hold it! Hold everything!" Everyone froze. "Before I get Team Rocket into an orbit around Pluto, we need to have a name check!" Ash spoke up. "Okay, you know me. This is Misty, Brock, Pikachu, Togepi, Jesse, James, and Meowth." Mew smiled. "Okay, back to Team Rocket." She faced them. "Send out a Pokemon." she said. "Sounds good to me!" Jesse grined. "Go Arbok!" "Wheesing, go!" Two Pokeballs went flying to the ground. Mew looked at the Wheesing and made a face. "Eww. A Wheesing." "Arbok, bite!" Jesse comanded. "ARBOK!" it screamed as it raced towards Mew. She smiled, then gritted her teeth. Mew started to glow an eerie blue light. Arbok stopped. All of a sudden, a huge ball of energy appeared in Mew's hands. "PSYBEAM!!!" she screamed. The energy ball blasted Arbok and Wheesing into their Pokeballs. The owners of the Pokeballs were blasted too, but instead of being blown back, they were hurled upwards. "LOOK'S LIKE TEAM ROCKET'S BLASTING OFF AGAIN!" Team Rocket screamed as they were thrown farther and farther until they dissapered.

CHAPTER FIVE
"Wow, not even Pikachu can throw Team Rocket that far!" Ash exclamed as he and the others walked down the road. "Pika!' said Pikachu. "Don't worry about it. I throw jerks like them into space all the time." Mew said. "Togepi!" Togepi cooed. Mew smiled at him. "Hey," Mew started. "Does Togepi know any attacks?" Misty looked down at him. "Nope. He's too young." she said. "So, where you guys going anyway?" Mew asked. "We're going to get another badge." Ash answered. "Cool." Mew smiled. After a while of walking, Ash, Misty, Brock, and Mew finally reached a huge river. "I'm guessing you need the Volcano Badge from Blane on the Cinibar Islands." Mew said. "Yup." Ash answered. "Let's get across!" Misty took out two Pokeballs. "I choose you, Staryu and Starme!" The two Pokemon came out and everyone got on. Everyone exept Mew. "Mew, come on." Ash tried to get her up. "No thanks." Mew said. "I can swim." A while later, they reached Cinibar Islands. They quickly got off Starme and Staryu and started walking down a long road towards the gym. "Say Mew," Ash started. "What were you crying about?" Mew froze. "Um, well, nothing... important." Mew's voice cracked. "Come on, there has to be something wrong." Brock said. Mew's eyes filled with tears. She sat down on a rock. "It's a long story." Mew started. "I don't know where to start." "Start from the begining." Ash said. They all sat down as Mew began the story. "A while ago, these scientists were chasing me so they could study me. Since I don't like people who chase, I ran. For a while, things were like this. They saw me, I ran, they ran after me, someone tripped on a Geodude or slipped in a puddle, and they lost sight of me. After quite a few months of this, I fell down a hill, someone threw an Ultraball, and they finally caught me. They took me back to their lab and ran a few tests on me. They sampled my blood and did lots of other stuff, but they made sure that when I wasn't being tested, I was in a place that was simalar to my home and that I was comfortable with my surrondings. So things went that way for a while. In fact, we made friends with one another. Then one morning they took a small sample of my blood and found out that I was pregnant. So for the next few months, they stopped testing me. Then one day I was due and they ushed me to the emergency room. After a while, my son was born. The other scientists and I named him Mewtwo. A month later, he became capable of talking. The scientists tested him and took a lot of blood samples. One day, Mewtwo wandered out of his living space and into a room filled with nurses and doctors. They were operating on a Chansey who had a heart attack. Nobody noticed Mewtwo as he slipped next to a doctor and watched him operate. The operation failed and the Chansey died, but the worst part was that Mewtwo saw it all, how the beeps of the machine came to a hault, how the nurses screamed 'We're losing him!' over and over again, how the Chansey stopped breathing and fell into an eternal sleep. He ran out of the room and into my arms, sobbing uncontrolably. That sight scarred Mewtwo for life. Over the years, the scar grew bigger and bigger until Mewtwo went insane. His mind became twisted and he set fire to the lab. Everyone except me was killed. As I crawled out of the burning lab, Mewtwo landed in front of me and said, 'Try all you like, but you'll never catch me. I'll destroy the world before you do.' He flew away. For years I've been pursuing him. He loved to see me suffer at the thought of me almost getting him, then somehow he escaping from me. When you guys found me, I had just about given up all hope of finding him again, but now that we've got more Pokemon with us, we just might find him again." "Wow," Misty said. "I'm sorry." "Don't be sorry. It's not your fault." Mew said. Suddenly, Mew gasped. "What's wrong?" Ash asked. "I'm... getting... a... message... by... psychic... communication." Mew said, putting her hands to her head. "What does it say?" Brock got in front of Mew. "It says..." Mew started, "This... is... Mewtwo... I'm... going... to attack... Celedon... City... catch... me... if you... can." Mew shook out of it. "Oh man, we've got to get to Celedon City!" Ash yelled. He took out a Pokeball. "Pidgeotto, go!" Pidgeotto came out. "Ash, Pidgeotto isn't big enough for all of us to fit on!" Misty pointed out. "I can make him evolve." Mew said. "You can?!" Ash gasped. "Yup. Pidgeotto, come here." Pidgeotto walked over to Mew. She put her hands on the bird's head. All of a sudden, he started to glow. "Stand back guys," Mew pushed them back. "Pidgeot is a really big Pokemon." "PIDGEOT!!!" it screamed. Everyone hopped onto it. "To Celedon City!" Ash commanded.

CHAPTER SIX
"Are we almost there yet?" Ash asked. "Just a little further." Mew kept her concentration on the ground. She jumped off Pidgeot and started to fly on her own. "I didn't know you could fly." Ash watched Mew avoid a flock of Spearows. She looked down. "Hey, there's Celedon City!" Misty pointed down. "But where's Mewtwo?" Mew looked confused. "Pidgeot," Ash commanded. "Land at Celedon City!" After landing, Mew looked around. Everything was quite normal. "Where is he..." Mew gritted her teeth. "He said he'd be here..." "Calm down Mew." Ash put a hand on her shoulder. "He's probably here somewhe..." Ash didn't get to finish the sentence. One of the buldings exploded. Then another one. Then the Cerelian City Gym! People ran screaming as a dark figure rose above everyone and flew away. Mew cursed in her native language, then said, "He's done with this town. He's heading for Viridian City!" Pidgeot quickly flew Ash Misty and Brock to Viridian City, but when they got there, it was too late. All the buildings were demolished. Everyone had evacuated. Misty looked up and gasped. Above all the distruction was Mewtwo! He grinned evily at Misty, then flew away. "He's going for Pewer City!" Mew screamed. After a while of chasing Mewtwo, he had only three places left to destroy: Lavander Town, Pallet Town, and Indigo Plateu. After destorying Lavander Town, Ash, Misty, Brock, and Mew finally cornered him. "There's no way out Mewtwo." Mew said. "We've got you surrounded." "Surrounded by a bunch of weaklings." he smirked. "The only way you'll be able to stop me is if you defeat me in battle." he narrowed his eyes at Mew. "If it's a fight you want, I'm in!" she glared at Mewtwo. Mewtwo began to glow red. He stopped, then fired a huge Psybeam at Mew! She dodged, but just barely! "Jerk." Mew thought. She quickly used Tri-Attack on Mewtwo, but he dodged it easily. He looked over at Ash, Misty, and Brock. "When I'm done with her," he started. "You're all next." Ash gulped and Togepi started to cry. Mew quickly fired a Solar Beam at Mewtwo when he wasn't looking. He tried to dodge, but it blasted him in the tail. He gave Mew the, "You're dead meat," look, then raced at her. Mew tried to dodge, but Mewtwo quickly elbowed her in the stomach, knocked her legs out from under her, and slamed her against the floor. Mew screamed. Mewtwo picked her up, held her against the wall, and started to punch her in the head. After a while, he let go of her and watched her drop to the floor, almost dead. "Well that was boring." he muttered. He looked over at everyone else. "Who's next?" he asked himself. He looked at everyone. "How about... you?" he looked at Misty. She froze with fright. "I'll take that as a yes." he grinned. He flashed his tail at her. It grew razor sharp spikes. "I call this trick razor-tail." he said as he moved towards Misty. She shrank back. Meanwhile, behind Mewtwo, Mew struggled to get up. "Wish I knew recover..." she muttered to herself. She looked up and gasped. Mewtwo had done his little "razor-tail" trick on Misty and Brock! They were on the floor, surrounded by pools of blood, barely alive and now Mewtwo was going for Ash! He lifted Ash by the shirt and just as Mewtwo was about to stab him, the Pokemon stopped. Something strong was behind him! He turned around to face it. Mew stood there. "You again?" he dropped Ash. Mew's eyes turned red and she began to glow blue. "Uh-oh..." Mewtwo thought. All of a sudden, Mew started to get bigger. Spikes grew out of her knees and arms. Her tail got bigger and grew spikes along it. Her eye color turned black. "Whoa, she evolved!" Ash cried. "Chronamew!" Mewtwo gasped.

CHAPTER SEVEN
"What the heck is THAT?!" Ash stared at the new figure that stood before them. Before he could react, Mewtwo yanked Ash's Pokedex out from his pocket and aimed it at Chronamew. "Chronamew," Dexter said. "A rare and mysterious Pokemon. It is all the Pokemon types. Some say it can only be beaten by another Chronamew, but it's not a sure thing." Mewtwo threw Dexter back at Ash, who caught it. Chronamew glared angrily at Mewtwo, then dove at him. Mewtwo dodged, then tried to tackle her from the back. Chronamew ducked and Mewtwo went flying straight into a wall. He quickly got up and began to glow blue as he formed a Psybeam in his hands. Mewtwo raised his hands up to fire, but quickly stopped. The Psybeam disapered. His eyes bulged. Chronamew had jamed one of her elbow spikes into Mewtwo's stomach. She ripped her arm out. Mewtwo fell to his knees, cluching his stomach. Chronamew smirked. Then, before she could react, Mewtwo tripped Chronamew and punched her in the nose. She yelped, then ran at him. But Mewtwo was ready. He quickly grew spikes out of his tail and whipped her in the face. Chronamew screamed as the spikes of his tail cut into her, blinding her for a few seconds. Mewtwo kicked her in the stomach, sending Chronamew flying backwards and slaming into a wall. She slowly stagered back up. She looked at him wearily, then realized that she was only looking at him through one eye. She opened the other, then quickly closed it. She couldn't see out of that eye. The spikes on Mewtwo's tail must of cut into her eye as well as her face. "Have you had enough?" Mewtwo taunted her. "Are you kidding?" Chronamew smiled. "I was just warming up!" Mewtwo laughed. Chronamew started glowing a faint blue. The blue color turned purple, then red, then dead black. Mewtwo stared at her. Chronamew closed her eyes. The glowing stopped. A minute passed. Mewtwo sweatdroped. Then, without any warning at all, Chronamew screamed "HYPER BEAM!" and fired a huge black blast at Mewtwo. Mewtwo tried to shield himself, but the shield quickly broke as the blast enveloped him. Ash had to hold onto a lamp-post to keep himself from getting flung into the air. Then, the blast exploded. Ash held on to the post with one hand and covered his ear with the other. In the distance, he could hear Mewtwo screaming in agony. He could hear Brock and Misty screaming too. He looked over. They were holding onto the remains of a destroyed building. Ash felt his hands slipping off the post. He held on to it as tight as ever and began screaming too. Then, the blast ended. Everything was covered in smoke. Ash and his friends fell to the floor. Ash looked around. "Where's Chronamew?" Ash couldn't see her anywhere. He made his way through the smoke and finally saw Chronamew. She was breathing hard and looked like she was ready to pass out. She slumped to the ground. Ash quickly ran over to her side. When he got there, he gasped. Chronamew had de-evolved and in her place was a little Mew. Ash took her in his arms. Mew coughed and opened one eye. "Mew, you're alive!" Ash gasped. Mew smiled weakly, then gritted her teeth. "What's wrong?" Ash asked. Mew slowly pointed behind Ash. He turned around. There, limping and holding one arm, was Mewtwo! He looked at Ash with an expresion that really defines the prase, "Boy, if looks could kill." Ash carefully placed Mew down on the floor, then looked back up at Mewtwo. Knowing that he was weak, Ash walked over to Mewtwo, ready to punch his lights out. Seeing that he couldn't defend himself, Mewtwo slowly floated upwards. He glared at Ash. "I'll be back." Mewtwo floated up higher and higher, the flew off to parts unknown. Ash stared at the spot where Mewtwo went, then quickly turned around when he heard a little cough. Brock and Misty ran over to Mew as Ash picked her back up. He looked at Brock and Misty and asked, "How did you guys get back up? I thought you were..." Before Ash could finish the sentence, Mew spoke up. "That beam I fired only hurts things that are evil and it heals the good guys. The only problem is that it blows them away..." she coughed. "...and it takes a lot out of me..." "Don't talk." Ash said. "We'll get you to a Pokemon Center." Mew smiled. "No, Ash. By then it'll be too late..." "Mew please!" Ash yelled with tears in his eyes. "Just hang on!" "I can't. I'm getting weaker every second. And besides, the nearest working Pokemon Center is over a thousand miles away. Pidgeot can't fly that fast..." Togepi sniffled. "Just do me a favor..." Ash nodded. "I'll do anything I can." Mew looked at Ash. "Live your life to the fullest. Don't waste it 'cause you're only gonna get one..." she coughed. "Become a Pokemon Master and take good care of your Pokemon..." she looked at Pikachu. "...especially Pikachu..." she looked at Brock and Misty. "You guys fufill your dreams too. Like I said, you've only got one life to live..." she coughed. "I can't hang on any longer. Sorry. Bye..." she smiled, then closed her eyes and died. Ash and his friends walked into the remains of the Pokemon Tower and after a while of searching, found a clean coffin. Ash placed Mew's body into it, then put the lid on. Ash stared at it for a while, then put his head down and cried. Then, something wonderful happened. All the buildings, everything there, began to pull itself back together. Ash looked around, then ran outside to a huge hill. As he looked over, he could see everything slowly beginning to come back together. Ash took out the Pokeball with Pidgeot in it and let the Pokemon out. Instead of a Pidgeot, his old Pidgeotto stood there. Ash smiled. Misty and Brock came up beside him. Ash looked up towards the clouds and he could swear that he could see the smiling face of Mew staring back at him. And so, Ash and his friends walk down a long road, towards Cinnibar Island, with new adventures and Pokemon in store for them. And the entire way, Ash is smiling.
