CHAPTER ONE
Pikachu awoke from his sleep and yawned. "What will school be like today?" Pikachu wondered as he headed to the bathroom. As he opened the door, his big brother, Raichu, walked out with a towel on his shoulder. "All yours, little buddy." he said as Pikachu ran in. When Pikachu came out, he practically tripped over his adopted little sister, Pikablu. "Blupika!" she cried. "Poor Pikablu," thought Pikachu. "She still hasn't learned to say her own name the right way yet." After breakfast, Pikachu said goodbye to his family and ran to the bus stop, where his friends, Bulbasaur, Nidoran, and Mewtwo were waiting for him. "Hi guys, sorry I'm late." puffed Pikachu."No big deal." said Nidoran. "Yeah, it's not like you missed the bus or anything." Bulbasaur said. "Actually," said Mewtwo. "You're right on time, because here comes the school bus!" The old bus lumbered up to the young Pokémon and hauled to a stop. Pikachu got onto the bus and was followed by his friends plus a few other Pokémon.
CHAPTER TWO
As Pikachu and his friends got onto the bus, Mewtwo said, "Are you going to sit with Mew this time?" Pikachu blushed. He had a crush on Mew, but she didn't even know he was alive. "Come on Pikachu, sit with her!" Nidoran yelled, pushing Pikachu towards Mew, who was looking out the window. "I can't!" cried Pikachu. He tried to struggle away and by doing so, stepped on Charmeleon's foot. "Owwwww!!!!!!!" screamed Charmeleon. Charmeleon was the school bully, and when he found out that Pikachu was the one who smashed his toe, he wasn't too happy about it. He started to chase Pikachu around the bus. "Sit down!" yelled Muk, the driver. Mew took a quick look at the now running-for-his-life Pikachu, giggled, and turned back to the window. Pikachu finally managed to get away from the bully and stumbled onto a seat. Little did he know who's seat it was until he just happened to turn around and see that he was sitting right next to Mew! What was Pikachu to do?!
CHAPTER THREE
Pikachu froze at the sight of Mew. She was the calm color of light peachish-ivory and had two baby blue eyes. When she saw that Pikachu was sitting next to her, she turned around to face him. "Hi Pikachu." she said. Pikachu felt his face turn red and fell onto his schoolbag. "Pikachu, what is it?" Mew asked. Pikachu popped up from his position on the bag. "It's nothing, don't worry." he managed to say as he reached for his bag. The old bus slowed to a stop. The young Pokémon got out of the bus and into the school just as the first bell rang. "Oh man, if the second bell rings, we're all dead meat!" Bulbasaur cried. The young Pokémon screamed and ran into the building to get to class. In the process, they trampled Pikachu! The only ones outside now were Pikachu and Mew. Or so they thought! "Are you okay, Pikachu?" Mew asked, helping Pikachu up off the floor. Pikachu turned red again and jumped up. "Sure I'm okay, thanks Mew." he managed to say. "Hey, move it or lose it!" a familiar voice said. "Who's that?!" cried Mew. "Oh no! It's Charmeleon! Mew, RUN!!!" screamed Pikachu, but it was too late! Charmeleon was the kind of bully who loved catfights, and he was just sick enough to do it! He jerked Mew up by the arm and threw her onto the concrete floor! Mew screamed. At last, Pikachu just lost it and dove at Charmeleon in a fury of kicks and punches, only to be thrown next to Mew! What was Pikachu to do?!
CHAPTER FOUR
Mew was scratched up, bleeding, and crying. Pikachu tried to get up to help her, but he couldn't move a muscle. Pikachu felt his eyes closing, and the next thing he knew, he was being shaken by a familiar face that could only belong to Mew. "Pikachu, when you fell on your bag, you fainted. Are you feeling allright?" she asked. Pikachu got up off of his bag, once again on the bus. "Wow, that was one strange dream I had." Pikachu thought. The bus pulled up to the school. The Pokémon hopped off the bus and walked into the school. Pikachu managed to get into the building and ran to class just as the first bell rang. He plopped into his seat next to Mew and unpacked all his things. After quite a few trips to the closet, he finally went back to his seat. "Good morning, class!" the teacher said. "Good morning, Miss Articuno!" the class said in reply. "I hope you spent your night studying, because we're having a test today." Miss Articuno said as she picked up some papers. Oddish banged his head against his desk and Gastly slowly disappeared. "Oddish! Gastly!" Miss Articuno scolded. Oddish lifted his head up and Gastly quickly reappeared. "Sorry, Miss Articuno." they both said. Mew took out a pen while Pikachu took one final look at his study book and put it away. Miss Articuno handed out the test papers. "Best of luck to you, class!" she said. Pikachu gulped and took a look at the first question. He read it to himself. "Who is the 150th Pokémon?" He paused, and whispered, "Why, that would only be my friend Mewtwo!" He wrote it down, and sighed.
CHAPTER FIVE
Pikachu looked at his next question. It said, "True or False: Mew evolves into Mewtwo, who evolves into Mewthree." Pikachu felt the huge lump in his throat get bigger. "Hmmm. I have a 50/50 chance on this one. Darn it, Mewtwo just told me this one yesterday!!!" Pikachu hesitated. "Wait, Mews don't evolve at all! It has to be false!" Pikachu wrote down his answer. After much hard work, Pikachu finally came to his last question. It said, "Does Togepi evolve?" Pikachu dropped his pen. "Oh no! I don't know the answer to this one! I'll just take a guess at it." He wrote "No." Miss Articuno said, "Class, you have 5 more minutes to finish." Pikachu took a look at Mew. She was chewing on her pen so hard that Pikachu thought that it would break any second. "Poor Mew. I wish that there was some way to help her." Pikachu thought. Then he realized it. "She must be having trouble on question number 11, what Pokémon evolves into Raichu!" he whispered. Mew took a look at Pikachu and a lightbulb appeared over her head. Pikachu smiled. "She got it." "Time's up! Please hand in your papers." Miss Articuno said. Pikachu handed his paper in.
CHAPTER SIX
The bell rang as Pikachu handed his paper in. "RECESS!" yelled Bulbasaur. The entire class jumped up from their seats and ran outside. Pikachu followed. Once on the playground, the Pokémon split up. Oddish started a game of "Kick the Can." Charmeleon tried to start a game of "Kick the Jigglypuff," but Miss Articuno stopped him. Pikachu went to play basketball, and Mew went on the swings. "Gee, I wonder how I did on my test." Pikachu thought as he slam-dunked the basketball. "Hey Pikajerk!" someone yelled behind Pikachu. He turned around. It was Charmeleon! "Uh-oh." thought Pikachu. "Hey Pikajerk, I'm talking to YOU!" Charmeleon screamed. Pikachu turned around to face the bully. "What do you want?" he asked. "Oh, nothing really." Charmeleon replied. "Except the lunch money you owe me!" "Hey, I don't owe you anything!" Pikachu cried. "Well, guess what." Charmeleon said, "NOW YOU DO!!!" With that, Charmeleon jumped on top of Pikachu and knocked him down. Pikachu slowly got up. "Oh, and if you don't agree with me," Charmeleon started, "Mankey over here's gonna give you the Thrashing of a lifetime!" He turned around. "Aren't you, Mankey?" Mankey looked at Pikachu with fire in his eyes. "Of course! And if we're lucky, I might evolve!" Pikachu gulped. "That's the last thing we need." he muttered. "I'm getting Miss Articuno!" Mew screamed and ran towards the building. Suprisingly, Charmeleon payed no attention to her. "So," Charmeleon turned back around to Pikachu, "waddya say?" Pikachu felt the eyes of everyone burning into him. "Oh-no, what do I do?!" Pikachu thought frantically. Then, he heard a familiar voice behind him. Pikachu looked over and saw Miss Articuno and Mew running towards him and Charmeleon. "CHARMELEON, YOU STOP THAT BULLYING RIGHT NOW!" Miss Articuno screamed. Pikachu let out a breath of air he didn't even know he was holding in. "Charmeleon, that was the LAST STRAW! You will stay afterschool in detention with Principal Nidoking until 7:00 pm. Then, I will phone your parents to pick you up. IS THAT CLEAR?!" Charmeleon looked around. Then, he said, "I'm so sorry Miss Articuno, but I have a dentist appointment today afterschool." Miss Articuno looked at Charmeleon like she was ready to give him a little taste of a Blizzard from an angry Articuno. But to everyone's surprise, she didn't. All she said was, "Allright Charmeleon. You may skip detention today, but tomorrow, you must go straight to the principal's office after school. Do you understand?" "Yes, Miss Articuno." he said in a timid voice that Pikachu knew was fake. Just then, the bell rang. The Pokémon walked back into the building.
CHAPTER SEVEN
To Pikachu's surprise, 6th and 7th period went by quickly. Before he knew what was happening, it was time to go home. Pikachu packed his backpack and left the classroom. Mew followed him. Pikachu tried to gulp, but there was nothing to swallow. He took one look at Mew and almost fainted. "Pikachu, are you feeling okay?" Mew asked, breaking the silence. Pikachu sat up and pinched himself to make sure he wasn't dreaming. It hurt. Therefore, Pikachu wasn't dreaming. He got up and, since his bus had broken down that day, started the long walk home with Mew. "Gosh," Mew started, "I wonder why Charmeleon didn't chase me when I went to get Miss Articuno." Pikachu thought about it. "I really don't know." he said at last. Pikachu and Mew finally got out of the school and into the playground. But, as soon as they got to the swings, Charmeleon jumped out from behind a tree! He was holding a huge, heavy stick. "I didn't have a dentist appointment." Charmeleon said, raising the stick. "I lied." With that, Charmeleon ran at the two terrified Pokémon, swinging the stick around. Pikachu and Mew clung to each other in terror, too scared to move.
CHAPTER EIGHT
Mew and Pikachu finally managed to move and they ran out of the schoolyard. Charmeleon, seeing that he couldn't run as fast with the stick, dropped it and ran after the two. After running for what seemed like hours, Pikachu and Mew came to a dead end alley. They turned around slowly. Charmeleon stood there, his arms crossed with a very evil grin on his face. He began to walk towards the two. "So," he began, "I've finally caught you two." He shook his head. "Such a pity I have to crush you, Pikachu. You two would have made a cute couple." He then started to run towards Pikachu. Pikachu almost had a heart attack from fright. Charmeleon had never looked this scary. But before Pikachu could do a thing, Charmeleon headbutted him in the stomach. Pikachu passed out from the pain. Charmeleon turned to Mew. There was an evil, yet happy, glint in his eyes. Mew was petrified. Charmeleon began to move closer to her. Mew backed up against the wall. She was too scared to move. "What do you want?!" Mew shouted as Charmeleon moved towards her, his hands outstretched, his eyes twinkling with excitement. He didn't answer her, he only moved closer.
CHAPTER NINE
Mew's eyes were full of terror. Charmeleon kept coming closer to her. "Now that Pikachu's out of the way," Charmeleon laughed, "I'll have you all to myself." He grabbed Mew. She tried to squirm out of his grasp, but he was too strong. "But first," Charmeleon said, tightnening his grip on Mew, "let's see just how strong you are. If you beat me, maybe I'll reconsider and let you go. Sound fair?" Mew nodded her head yes. "Good." he said, letting Mew drop to the ground. She stood up. "I'll let you take the first shot." offered Charmeleon. Mew looked at Charmeleon and began concentrating on her attack Psychic. Charmeleon just sat there with a smile on his face. "Take this, you moron!" she screamed and launched the attack. A bright blast of psychic energy came flying at Charmeleon from Mew's eyes. It hit Charmeleon and for a split-second, it looked like Mew had won. But when the smoke cleared, there stood Charmeleon, not even bruised. "I must say," Charmeleon started, coming towards Mew again, "that almost got me. If that's all you got, I suggest that you give up now." All Mew could do was stare. That was her strongest attack! "Okay, now it's my turn." the bully said. He began to run at Mew with fire all around him. Mew froze. Charmeleon was too terrifying to look at! Mew tried to get out of the way, but it was too late! Charmeleon punched her in the jaw really hard. She fell to the ground, shaking with pain and fright. "Well now," Charmeleon grinned, walking up to the poor, shivering Mew, "I guess it's time to finish you off." Charmeleon formed a huge ball of fire in the palm of his hand. "It's been a pleasure Mew." he said, raising the fireball above his head. Mew looked at Charmeleon with tears in her eyes. He just smirked.
CHAPTER TEN
"This is it." Mew whispered as Charmeleon raised the ball of fire. "I can't believe it's all over." Mew shut her eyes. She couldn't bear to look. Charmeleon looked at Mew. "Wait a second." he said, lowering the fireball. "Mew, do you think I'm going to kill you?" Mew didn't move. "Well, I'm not." Charmeleon said, raising the fireball again. "I'm just gonna put you in the hospital for about a month, that's all." "Really comforting." Mew said sadly. "But enough with the chit-chat. Let's get back to buisness." grinned Charmeleon. "Mew, I'm gonna give you one more chance to reconsider. Either join my gang or suffer a few broken limbs." Mew looked at Charmeleon like he was a Grimer who had just rolled in sewage. "Are you insane?!" Mew screamed. "I'll never join you! I'd rather eat pickled yams than go with YOU!" "There goes your last chance. Goodbye Mew." Charmeleon replied calmly. He raised the fireball over his head and it grew larger. Mew shut her eyes and cried. "I call my attack FIRE BLAST!" Charmeleon screamed. He threw the fireball with all of his might at Mew. Then all of a sudden, something came out of nowhere and pushed Charmeleon! Charmeleon wobbled and the fireball disappeared. Then, he fell backwards onto the ground. His head hit a trash can and he passed out. Mew was left to wonder who pushed Charmeleon. Then she turned around. Standing there was a furious-looking dark shadow.
CHAPTER ELEVEN
Mew looked at the dark shadow. "Who are you?" she whispered in a scared voice. The shadow didn't answer, it only moved towards Mew. Mew froze with terror. "What am I going to do?" she thought frantically. The shadow stopped abruptly, and turned to Charmeleon. The shadow's cheeks glowed, and a huge bolt of lightning shocked Charmeleon good, waking him up. "Huh? What?" Charmeleon groaned. Mew got up and ran towards the shadow. She knew who it was now. It was Pikachu, his eyes set angrily on the stunned Charmeleon. Pikachu walked past Mew and kicked Charmeleon in the head. "That should give us enough time to get out of here." Pikachu said calmly, grabbing Mew's hand and dragging her down the street. "Come on, let's go!" Mew cried, running as fast as she could away from the alley. When they finally reached the next block, they were both out of breath. "Pikachu!" Mew managed to gasp, breathing hard. "You just saved my life." Pikachu looked at Mew. "I wouldn't say life," he replied, "but I guess it was close enough. Come on, let's go home." Pikachu began to walk Mew home. It started to rain. "Do you think we lost Charmeleon?" Mew asked. Pikachu looked down. "Let's just pray we did." he said quietly. "Too late to pray now!" a voice said evily. Mew and Pikachu froze and slowly turned around. Charmeleon stood behind them, grinning evily. "Did you really think you'd get rid of me that easily?" he said with a laugh. "Well, you're wrong!" Mew and Pikachu froze with terror.
CHAPTER TWELVE
Charmeleon smirked. "You know," he said, "maybe I will kill you two." He stopped. "Well, maybe not kill, but certainly put you in a coma." "Why Charmeleon?" Mew screamed. "Why are you doing this to us? What did we ever do to you?" Charmeleon glared at Mew. "Oh, no reason. I just happen to hate Pikachus and Mews, that's all." "Yeah right." Pikachu said. Charmeleon bared his teeth. "You know Pikajerk," Charmeleon growled, "you're really asking for it this time!" Pikachu glared at Charmeleon. "I know." he replied calmly. Charmeleon looked at Pikachu like he was nuts. Then he smiled. "Okay," he said, "let's see YOUR attacks." "Mew," Pikachu said without even looking at her, "get out of here. Run as far and as fast as you can." Mew looked at Pikachu with tears in her eyes. "But Pikachu..." she started. "JUST GO!" Pikachu yelled, starting to glow with electricity. Mew took a step back, then broke into a run. "Be careful Pikachu." she whispered, tears rolling down her cheek as she ran. By now, Pikachu had powered up so much that he was stronger than ten lightning bolts put together. Charmeleon, seeing how strong Pikachu was, began to power up too. A dark cloud rolled over the two Pokémon. A lightning cloud, attracted by Pikachu's electricity. This would make Pikachu even stronger. By the time the cloud completely covered them both, Charmeleon had a huge ball of fire around him and Pikachu was glowing with electricity. All of a sudden, lightning struck the ground near Pikachu, totally electrifiying him, giving him even more power. "PIKACHU, THIS WILL BE YOUR LAST BATTLE EVER!" Charmeleon yelled. A huge ball of fire appeared in his hand. "FIRE BLAST!" yelled Charmeleon, throwing the fireball at Pikachu. Pikachu ran at Charmeleon, screaming. "THUNDER!" Pikachu yelled. He ran right into the fire ball, creating a huge explosion! A strange glowing fireball engulfed Charmeleon! He screamed as the electricity and fire ripped through his body. Mew, who had been hiding behind a nearby tree watching the two fight, saw the fireball coming towards her. She screamed and ran. She tripped over a rock and scraped her chin on the concrete. She looked up, only to see the explosion coming right towards her. She tried to get up, but she had twisted her ankle. As the fireball came closer to Mew, she saw the faint shape of a Pikachu coming towards her. The fireball was almost on top of Mew now, and all she could do was sit and pray for a miracle to occur.
CHAPTER THIRTEEN
Mew grit her teeth and set herself on getting up. After stumbling to her feet, Mew concentrated on her Metronome attack. Just as the explosion was about to consume Mew, a huge Barrier surrounded her. The fire and electricity dug into it, wearing parts of it away. Mew knew it wouldn't hold for long. All of a sudden, Pikachu jumped through the shield, grabbed Mew, and jumped out. The Barrier exploded into tiny bolts of energy. Pikachu used Agility and sped out of the area. Once far away from the explosion, Pikachu stopped and set Mew down. "What happened to Charmeleon?" asked Mew. "He's okay. I got him outta there just in time. I put him on his porch." Pikachu replied. Pikachu then walked Mew to her house. "Well, see you tomorrow, Mew." Pikachu grinned. "Okay. Bye Pikachu!" Mew smiled and went inside. Pikachu watched Mew go in, then started towards home. When he got there, he collapsed onto the couch in his living room. "Yo, Pikachu!" Raichu greeted. "Blu-pika!" Pikablu cooed happily. "Hi Pikachu! How was your day at school?" asked his mom, Pikaflare. "Yeah son, did anything good happen?" his dad, Airchu, asked. Pikachu looked at them all and smiled. "No, nothing special." he said. "It was just another ordinary day."
