The Next Day

Author's Note: Mew and Mewtwo just moved to Pikachu's neighborhood a week ago, so that's why Pikachu didn't know Mew was Mewtwo's twin sister.
CHAPTER ONE
The next day, Pikachu woke up with huge rings under his eyes. Yesterday had been the most terrifying and exausting day of his life. He had faced the school bully, Charmelion, and won, plus saved his crush, Mew, from the huge fire blast. By the time he got home, he was ready to drop, and even though he slept like a rock that night, he was still sleepy when he woke up. "Good thing today is Saturday." Pikachu mumbled as he draged himself out of bed and went downstairs for breakfast. By the time he got to the staircase, he was so tired that instaid of walking, he fell downstairs, bounced off everything like a pinball, flew into the kitchen, and fell onto the floor. "Well, look who's finally up." Pikachu's mom, Pikaflare said as she
stired a huge bowl of batter. With his eyes still shut, Pikachu took his seat and groaned in responce. "Well, let's hope you're not too tired to eat some brunch. It's already 12:00." Pikaflare smiled at her son, who was about to fall asleep. After a while, Pikachu nodded his head and dozed off into his brother, Raichu's bowl of cereal. Raichu, seeing that Pikachu's head was in his bowl, picked his brother's head up, replaced his cereal with a plate
of cottage cheese, and set Pikachu's head back down into the cheese. Pikachu didn't seem to notice any difference. "Pikachu wake up." Pikaflare frowned at Raichu, then suddenly remembered something. She smiled, then said to her sleeping son, "We're having pancakes." Pikachu lifted his now cheesy head and looked at his mother. Pikaflare quickly gave Pikachu a towel to wipe his face, then got a plate and
filled it with a stack of pancakes dripping with syrup. Pikachu, now cleaned up, devowered the pancakes as soon as he got them. After breakfast, Pikachu thanked his mother for breakfast, then went outside to call for his friends. "Hi Mrs. Nidoqueen. Can Nidoran come out?" Pikachu asked. "Sorry Pikachu," Mrs. Nidoqueen said. "Nidoran is over a friends house." "Okay," Pikachu started. "Bye." Pikachu walked away from Nidoran's house and to Mewtwo's home. A few seconds after he rung the dorbell, Mewtwo answered the
door. "Hi Mewtwo," Pikachu greeted. "Can you come out?" Mewtwo thought for a second, then said, "Okay. Lemme ask my parents first." Mewtwo left. A minute later, he came back. "They said yes." Mewtwo said as he stepped outside and closed the door behind him. As they walked away, Pikachu asked, "Hey Mewtwo, how come I never see your parents?" Mewtwo paused for a minute. "I don't know." he answered. "Hey, wait for me!" a voice yelled behind them. Pikachu turned around. Running out of Mewtwo's house was... "MEW?!" Pikachu cried. He looked at Mewtwo. "Oh yeah," Mewtwo remembered. "I forgot to tell you that Mew was my twin sister. Pikachu was shocked. He had a crush on Mewtwo's sister?! Pikachu just couldn't believe it. Mewtwo snapped Pikachu out of it by shaking him a few times. After that, the trio went to call for Bulbasaur. After a while, Pikachu came back. "Well?" Mewtwo asked. "He isn't home." Pikachu said. "I think he's out shopping with his parents." "So,"
Mewtwo started as they all sat under a big apple tree, "What do you guys wanna do?" "I don't know." Pikachu said as he picked a ripe looking apple from the tree and began to munch on it. "Why don't we go digging?" Mew suggested. "Nah, we did that last time." Mewtwo picked an apple from the tree and tried to balance it on his head. After it fell onto his lap, he began to eat it. "Okay, how about we have a water-balloon fight?" Mew took an apple and began tossing it to herself. "We do that everytime." Pikachu had reached a bad spot in his apple and tried to eat around it. "Alright," Mew was running out of ideas. "How about we take out the wagon and go down the huge hill that's somewhere in the woods?" Pikachu and Mewtwo thought about it, then agreed. After waiting a while, Mewtwo finally emerged from the garage with the wagon. "Alright, let's go." Mew began to lead the way. Finally, they reached the hill. "Are you sure this isn't too high?" Pikachu sounded a little nervous as he overlooked the hill. "It's fine." Mew reassured as she got into the front of the wagon. "Remember last time we did this?" Mewtwo started, "We had to call the fire department to get the wagon out of the tree." "I'll avoid that ramp this time." Mew said as Pikachu got in behind
her. "Alright," Mewtwo sighed. "Just don't go flying into the lake like you did last time." Mewtwo began to push the wagon until it was fast enough to move on its own, then jumped in. "You know," Mew started at she avoided a tree, "My friend Clefairy told me this really lame joke yesterday while I was on the swings." "Watch out for that rock!" Pikachu pointed out as Mew made a sharp turn to avoid a
stump. "It was about a Squirtle and a Jigglypuff." "Don't go that close to the lake!" Mewtwo yelled as Mew turned the wagon in such a way that the three almost fell out. "The Jigglypuff and the Squirtle were going to race each other." Mew continued as she skidded in some mud and made a wrong turn by accident. "They probably had to jump out of the way of a speeding wagon." Mewtwo said to Pikachu. They both laughed uneasily as Mew got closer and closer to the edge of a cliff. "Then, just before the race, the Squirtle said something really stupid to the Jigglypuff." "What'd he say, watch out for the runaway wagon?" Pikachu was ready to jump out, but he couldn't, because Mew was sitting on his foot and Mewtwo was sitting on his tail. He and Mewtwo leaned in the opposite direction from the ledge as Mew tried to stear away from it, but the wagon lost its balance and went flying over the edge of the cliff. "The Squirtle said, 'I'll Raichu to the finish line.' " Mew finished the lame joke as she and the others held onto the wagon (and each other) as tight as they could. After flipping over a few times, the wagon (with everyone in it) crashed to the ground headfirst and everyone went flying. Mew, Mewtwo, and
Pikachu lay there in little holes they made breathing hard. "Hey, I've got a bad pun I'd like to tell." Mewtwo groaned as he slowly climed out of his hole. "What?" Mew and Pikachu asked as they pulled themselves out of their holes. "I'll Raichu to the hospital." Mewtwo joked as he pulled the wagon out of its hole. After shaking off the dust, Mewtwo, Pikachu, and Mew slowly walked out of the gulch and back up the hill to recover from their shock.
CHAPTER TWO
After trudging up the huge hill, Mew, Pikachu, and Mewtwo practically fell down under the apple tree. "Well, that wasn't too bad." Pikachu groaned as he picked himself up off the ground. "Yeah," Mewtwo agreed. "It could have been worse, like last time." "Come on, it's not my fault the wagon caught fire after running over that basketball." Mew started. "Besides, Bulbasaur's bulb grew back and I can see almost perfectly out of my right eye." Pikachu shuddered at the thought of Bulbasaur's bulb snagging a rose bush and Mew's head getting run over by the burning wagon and blinding her in the eye for a month. "So now what are we supposed to do?" Mewtwo asked as he and everyone
else sat on his stump. "Why don't we climb the tree near Pikachu's house?" Mew suggested. "We can't." Pikachu said. "My dad said that the tree is getting weak and that we can't climb on it anymore." "Alright, howabout we go in the pool?" Mew said. "I don't feel like going in the pool." Pikachu groaned. "The pool's boring." Mewtwo said as he looked for his apple that he had set down somewhere. After thinking about it, Mew came up with an idea. "How about we go exploring in the woods?" "Sounds good to me." Pikachu said. "Okay, but lemme find my apple first." Mewtwo agreed. After finishing their apples, the trio got up and walked into the woods. "So Mew," Mewtwo asked. "What exactly are we looking for?" "Nothing really." Mew stepped over a log and continued walking. "Can we throw rocks in the creek?" Pikachu asked as he practically tripped over the log. "No,
let's go look for Frogglets." Mewtwo jumped over the log and landed in a puddle. After drying off, he continued. "I like the Frogglet idea." Mew said. "But I don't wanna look for Frogglets!" Pikachu protested. "Everyone else does." Mewtwo pointed out. "Can't we do something else?" Pikachu just wouldn't give up. "Well, what else is there to do?" Mew asked. The electric rodent tried to think of something, but he couldn't come up with anything. "Alright," Pikachu gave in. "Let's go find some Frogglets." After walking around for a bit, Mewtwo, Mew, and Pikachu finally reached
the creek. "Which spot are the Frogglets in anyway?" Pikachu asked as he looked at the creek. "They should be near that rock over there." Mewtwo said as he pointed to the rock. The three Pokemon crossed the creek by walking
over a tree that had fallen over the running water and knelt down by the edge. "See any Frogglets?" Pikachu asked. "Nope, not yet." Mewtwo replied as he overlooked the water. "Hey, I see one!" Mew whispered so as not to scare the Frogglet she saw. "Where?" Pikachu whispered back. "Over here." Mew pointed to it. "Mew, pick it up!" Mewtwo whispered. Mew shook her head no. "I'm not touching it." she said quietly. "Mew, for crying out loud, pick it up or it'll hop away!" Mewtwo hissed at his sister. "Nuh-uh." she
said. "Mew," Pikachu started. "Why won't you pick it up?" "Frogglets drink water all day just in case someone picks them up." she explained. "She's got a point there." Pikachu whispered to Mewtwo. "Never mind," Mewtwo said. "I'll get it. Mew, run home and get a bucket."
* * *
A half-hour later, Mewtwo, Pikachu, and Mew sat near the top of a huge oak tree with the bucket hanging from a few branches below them. "Wow, we've never been this high in a tree." Pikachu said as he looked down. "I can't
believe that we got this high up." Mewtwo smiled. "You can get a great view of everything from up here." Mew's eyes sparkled as she overlooked the horizen, but the sparkles quickly disappeared. "That was quite a crash, wasn't it." Mew rubbed her arm where she had hit it. "Hey, it's not my fault that the Frogglet lept out of my hand!" Mewtwo snapped back. "I never thought that Frogglets can learn Mega-Agility." Mew said to herself. "Well," Pikachu started. "At least that Meowth we crashed into didn't smack her head against that tree too hard. "I'm pretty sure she'll grow her charm back." Mew said with a worried look on her face. "You just had to get that Frogglet tangled
up in your tail, didn't you." Mewtwo said to Mew with a bit of annoyance in his voice. "Well, you guys didn't have to grab onto me! You two just got pulled along!" Mew cried. "Hey, leave me out of this!" Pikachu protested. "Look, arguing won't get us out of this tree." Mew pointed out. She started to climb down. "Come on guys, let's go." she said. Mewtwo and Pikachu followed. After a while, they were close enough to the ground to just jump down. Just then, Mew smacked her head. "Dang, I forgot the bucket!" she cried. "I'll get it." Pikachu voluntered. He began to climb
up the huge tree. Finally, he reached the branch with the bucket on it. As he picked it off the branch, he heard a ribbit from inside the bucket. He looked in, and there was the Frogglet that had caused so much trouble. It hopped out of the bucket and, branch by branch, hopped down to the ground and hopped away. "Hey guys!" Pikachu yelled. "Catch!" He then dropped the bucket into the waiting arms of Mew. Then, he began to climb down for the second time. After reaching the ground, the three went back to Mewtwo's
stump to decide what to do next.
CHAPTER THREE
After walking through the woods for what seemed like forever, the three Pokemon plopped down onto a log. "Where the heck are we anyway?" Pikachu
asked. "We're lost." Mewtwo said in a matter-of-fact voice. "We're not lost!" Mew glared at her brother. "We're just...unable to find out where we are!" "That's still being lost." Mewtwo sighed. "Is not!" she yelled. "Mew, why don't you fly up there and take a look around. Maybe you'll find something familiar." Pikachu suggested. "Okay." Mew floated upward and
pretty soon she was out of sight. A few minutes later, she came down. "So, what's the story?" Mewtwo asked. "We're lost." Mew said blankly. "So now what're we gonna do?" Mewtwo leaned against a tree. "We live
like the wild Pokemon, that's what!" Mew declared. "You mean rough it?" Pikachu asked. "Yeah, I guess so." Mew shrugged her shoulders. "I like your idea," Mewtwo started, "but what'll happen when we get hungry?" Mew stared at her brother as if he were an idiot. "That's what we have eyes for. You know, we use them to look for things like food, you moron." "MORON?" Mewtwo jumped up. "COME A BIT CLOSER AND SAY THAT!" Mew floated upward, grinned, and wagged her tail at him. That pushed Mewtwo over the edge. He
seized a rock and hurled it at Mew. She dodged it easily. He threw another rock. Mew dodged that, too. Pretty soon, there were rocks flying everywhere like a huge, gray blur and if you had keen eyesight and could dodge about a million rocks flying at something behind you, you'd see a little pink blur in the air that was Mew. Pikachu, on the other hand, sat stupidly on the log, watching the rocks fly. Mewtwo must have started throwing blindly, because the next thing Pikachu knew, he was lying on his back with a rather large rock embedded in his face. After taking many *painful* measures to remove the rock, he shocked Mew and Mewtwo so hard that when he was done, two black things, one big and holding a rock and the other thing small, sat on the ground, wide-eyed. They beat Pikachu up rather hard after that. "QUIT IT, QUIT IT!" Pikachu screamed as he shocked them each time they socked him in the stomach. Pretty soon, everyone was dog-tired from practically killing each other. They crawled back onto the fallen log and were just deciding that maybe they should die right there because they obviously weren't going to get out of the woods when Mew just happened to look up and spotted a path that they knew well and always took. They all ran out of the woods the second Mew told them about her seeing the path. "So what're we gonna do next?" Mewtwo asked. They were all sitting
under the apple tree again. "Don't look at me, I'm fresh out of ideas!" Mew put her hands up. "Hey, I've got an idea!" Pikachu sat up. "Why don't we make a raft and sail down the river?" "Cool idea, Pikachu!" Mewtwo grinned. "Hmph..." Mew frowned. "Wish I thought of that..." Okay, we're gonna need a few things." He looked at Mew and Mewtwo. "Mewtwo, go get lots of rope and something made of cloth for the flag. Mew and I will get a few logs and a stick for the pole." The next thing everyone knew, they were on a raft, the
flag waving high in the breeze, and the waters looking good for sailing!
CHAPTER FOUR
"A pirate's life is the life for me, yo-ho-ho and a bottle of rum!" Mew sang as she happily drew a smiley face with crossbones behind it on the waving flag. "Mew, please don't sing." Mewtwo groaned. "I can't help it!" Mew answered cheerfully as she floated up and picked apples from trees they were passing. Mewtwo rolled his eyes. "Do you think we could catch
any fish?" Mew floated back down to the raft and dropped the apples into a basket they had brought along. "Don't think there are any fish in there, Mew."
Pikachu said, looking down at the river. "So why are you looking, Pikachu?" Mewtwo asked. "I don't know..." Pikachu started, "It's just that...the water seems to be getting rougher..." Mewtwo looked down at the river. "Yeah, it is getting rougher..." "Hey Mew, come look at this!" Pikachu called, not taking his eyes off the river. "Uh...guys?!" she squeaked. "I think I
know why the water's getting choppy..." "Why?" Mewtwo asked. "We're...we're heading for a...a..." Pikachu and Mewtwo looked up to see what Mew was rambling about and nearly died of fright. "WE'RE GOING OVER A
WATERFALL!" Pikachu screamed.
CHAPTER FIVE
As Mew and Pikachu ran around the deck like nuts, only Mewtwo was still. He sat near the edge of the raft, thinking hard. Finally, he snapped out of it. "Pikachu, come here for a second." he said calmly. "What do you need him for?" Mew stopped running around along with Pikachu. "Pikachu, remember that joke I sent you online? The one with the duct-tape?" Mewtwo
asked, ignoring Mew. "Yeah...what about it?" Pikachu questioned Mewtwo. "Well," Mewtwo started, "Mew is a cat-like Pokemon...sorta...and there's plenty of
rope hanging off the edge of the raft...and we can use the flag post as the paddle..." "What about the buttered bread?" Pikachu asked. "Say what?" Mew
looked at the two with confusion on her face. "You don't think I forgot lunch, did you?" Mewtwo grinned. He reached into his pocket and pulled out a piece of bread along with a plastic knife and a small stick of butter. "Alright!" Pikachu smiled, then went to the edge of the raft to get the rope. Mewtwo quickly buttered the bread and jerked the flag post from where
it stood. The raft was floating closer and closer to the waterfall, so Pikachu and Mewtwo had to work fast. "Um...can I ask what you guys are doing? I think I've missed something here..." Mew said. "Sure, we'll show you. Just come over here." Mewtwo smiled. "Whatever." Mew floated over to where Pikachu and Mewtwo stood. Suddenly, the two Pokemon grabbed Mew and began to
tie her to the end of the flag post. "HEY, WHAT DO YOU THINK YOU'RE DOING?! UNTIE ME RIGHT NOW!" Mew screamed. "We'll explain in a minute, just hold still!" Mewtwo shouted as he tied the buttered bread (butter-side up) to her back while Pikachu wound the rope around her feet. "YOU BETTER HAVE A VERY
GOOD EXPLANATION FOR THIS!" Mew hollered as she tried to squirm out of the ropes binding her. "We do, don't worry." Mewtwo said calmly. "Well, I'm listening!" Mew growled. "I'll explain." Pikachu stepped in front of
Mew. "Well, everybody knows Newton's law of gravity. You know, 'what comes up must come down.' Anyway, you know that when you drop a cat-like Pokemon, it always lands on it's feet...well, in your case, it lands on its feet most of the time, but that's still okay. Anyway, you also know that when you drop a piece of buttered bread, it always lands butter-side down. But, if you tie a piece of buttered bread, butter-side up, to a cat-like Pokemon's back and drop them...well, I think you get the idea." "This is going to make me
throw up, isn't it." Mew said blankly.
* * *
One or two miles away, two angry figures walked through the woods, looking for a certant electric rodent that toasted one of them last night. Yes, those two figures were Mankey and Charmelion! Charmelion was covered in cuts and scrapes and had a black eye. As they stomped through the trees, they heard a voice call out for them to slow down. It was Machop, late as usual. "What's your excuse this time, Machop?" Charmelion crossed his arms. "I uh...I...I forgot to set my um...my alarm last night and I uh...I
slept late..." he stuttered. Charmelion sighed. "Sorry..." Machop mumbled. He looked up. "Oh MAN, that little guy must've beat you up good!" Machop shouted. "He gave you a black eye!" "No, he didn't give me a black eye, stupid." Charmelion muttered. Machop stared stupidly for a second, then remembered. "Oh yeah, your dad...I forgot." "Well next time, don't forget, you moron!" Charmelion shouted. "Calm down man!" Mankey said. "Yeah, sorry." Charmelion shook his head. "Come on, let's go find that jerk."
* * *
"You ready Mew?" Pikachu had to shout over the noise of the waterfall. "Ready as I'll ever be!" Mew shouted back. "Okay Pikachu, when I say three, you let go along with me, okay?" Mewtwo yelled. "Okay!" Pikachu gripped the flagpole. "Okay!" Mewtwo hollered, "One...two...THREE!" As he said three, Pikachu and Mewtwo both let go of the flagpole at the same time.
At first, the flagpole floated in the air. Then, as Mew and the buttered bread tried to obey Newton's law of gravity and tried to land the way they were supposed to, the flagpole with Mew and the buttered bread on it slowly started to spin in midair. Faster and faster they went, until nothing could be seen of them but a blur! At that second, two events happend. Event #1: Charmelion and his gang burst through the trees. Event #2: Mewtwo and Pikachu plunged the end of the flagpole with Mew and the buttered bread on it
into the water, where they acted as a motor. One second, the raft was just about to slip over the edge of the waterfall, the next second it was
zooming back up the river at top speed...right towards Charmelion and his gang! The three Pokemon only got one look at the flying raft before it crashed into
them, hurling them skyward. Sadly, all they needed was a quick glance to know who it was.
* * *
"RUNAWAY RAFT!" Pikachu screamed. "MEWTWO, STOP THIS CRAZY THING!" Mew managed to holler. "I DON'T KNOW HOW!" he shouted back. That was all Mew needed to hear. She passed out on the spot. "Oh great." Mewtwo muttered. "QUICK! UNTIE MEW, UNTIE MEW!" Pikachu pointed at the rope. Quickly, Mewtwo and Pikachu ran over to Mew and started to untie her, but it was too late! They were heading straight for a cliff, and this one was much deeper than the last! Luckily, the raft crashed into the stump of a tree,
sending Mewtwo, Pikachu, and a now freed Mew flying to the ground. Mew got up and stumbled around in a daze...right towards the cliff! Pikachu, seeing that Mew was still too dizzy to know where she was going, jumped up and hurled himself at Mew, who was teetering on the edge, but it was all in vain! Mew lost her footing and fell over the side...and Pikachu jumped right off the cliff to try and catch her! Sadly, the electric rodent didn't realise what he did until after he jumped!
CHAPTER SIX
"AAAAAAAAAAHH!!!" Pikachu screeched as he plummeted towards the ground. Mew didn't seem to notice, and if she did, she was too dizzy to
comprehend what was going on. Pikachu stopped screaming, looked down, and saw the ground about a mile below. He knew he had to act fast or he and Mew
were history! Pikachu quickly grabbed Mew by her tail and frantically looked down for an oncoming branch to cling to. Two seconds later, a branch passed by. "Oh no." Pikachu thought. He looked down. There were no other branches! Frantically, he put Mew's tail in his mouth and flapped both arms in a desperate attempt to get back up...and somehow, it worked! Inch by inch, Pikachu flapped his way back up to the branch and grabbed onto it with both hands. "Hey, I didn't know I could fly!" Pikachu said aloud. "...You can thank me later..." said Mew in a shaky voice from below. Then she passed out again. So here's how it looked. Pikachu was about 100 feet from the top of the cliff and about half a mile away from the bottom of it. He was clinging onto an unsturdy branch with sweaty paws and was keeping Mew from plunging into nothingness by biting onto a tiny little part of her tail. So Pikachu
had a VERY good reason to be terrified.
