Welcome to
Betty's Haven
This is Greenleaf bridge that was built by the
WPA back in the 30's. It was completed in 1938. Downstream a few miles the Corp of Engineers had a dam built across this creek and created Greenleaf Lake. There is a park there now with nature trails, camp sites, cabins and etc.
This is me standing on the high bridge. There are lots of fish in the creek and there are
excellent places to just picnic and wade in the water. This area was purchased by Camp Gruber and later leased to the State of OK as a game refuge which is used for controlled hunting. There are some areas along this creek that are very primitive camp sites.
This is the dirt dam that is below Greenleaf lake. My dad helped build this dam back in the 30's when he worked for the WPA. About half way up this dirt dam in the picture is the dam, then the other half that is dirt is beyond the lake. This area of water here is called Little Greenleaf because this area is here from a smaller creek called Little Greenleaf. People fish here too
This is the actual Greenleaf Lake above the dirt dam. It has the clearest water! So beautiful and calm. It is used for fishing, swimming and recreation. No speed boats allowed but Bass boats for fishing and regular boats. No water sking. This lake is especially special to me because part of the land used to belong to my grandparents and other relatives of mine. My dad was born just a short distance North of this lake near a little town called Braggs.
