Chapter Ten
Taylor
I walked acorss the street to Kyle's house. Katelyn and Destiny were sitting on the porch swing, smoking cigarettes. I rolled my eyes. The girl of my dreams was going to end up with lung cancer. Why me?
"Hey Kate. Hey Dessie." I waved as I stepped onto the old porch, which was deperately in need of painting.
"Oh. Taylor. Hey." Destiny gave me a short wave back, then stuck her ciggarette back into her mouth.
Katelyn just sat there, blowing smoke rings out of her mouth. She finished it and tossed it on the ground, then pulled out another one. Jesus, this girl has strong lungs I thought, annoyed.
"What?" she asked me meanly, gazing at me as if I were some bug on the bottom of her combat boots. The thought stung, but there was nothing I could do about it. Kyle had told me that their boyfriends were coming down within a few days...which was probably and emotionally destresstingly soon. "Nothing," I murmured quietly. "Is Kyle here?"
Katelyn shrugged. "I think the little shit-face is in the kitchen, but I really wouldn't know. I'm not his keeper."
I sighed and walked into the kitchen. Kyle was sitting at the table, stuffing his face with Cheetos and looking through what seemed like a photoalbum. "Yo, man." I said.
Kyle jumpped slightly. "Oh hey Tay. I didn't hear you come in." he guetured for me to sit down.
"What are you looking at?" I asked, already knowing, but thought I would ask for the sake of conversation.
"One of my dad's albums. I was bored and thought I would go through them."
For my best friend, he was a very bad liar. As was I. And this is why I could tell he was not speaking the truth to me. I smiled. "Hoping to find an old pic of your sister and her best friend Destiny?"
Kyle raked his hand through his dishevoled hair. "Uhh...no. I was just, rumaging." he paused and looked over at me, trying to hold back his smile.
I laughed. "Liar. Found any yet?" I asked, leaning over the book.
"A couple." he held up a stack of photos he had taken out of the book. Looked like more than a few to me.
Greadily. I took the pictures from his hand and started to flip through them. Most of them were younger pics, from like when the girls were around five or six and they were playing Barbies. Katelyn's hair was blonde, and pulled up into pigtales. She was smiling. Something I haven't seen her do since she got back.
Destiny's hair was brown, pulled high on her head in a ponytale. She was holding a Ken doll up to the camera with a huge smile on her face. Not surprising. I thought, laughing out loud.
Kyle looked over at me. "What's so funny?" he asked.
Before I could answer, we heard loud music coming from outside from a car, then followed by a loud honking of a car.
