Chapter Sixteen

"So what does it look like?" Zac asked anxiously.
"Well, it's one level- except a small basement- it's really a cellar. Not big enough to actually be called a basement. The outside is brick. A couple of bay windows, a small barn on the left as you walk towards the house from the front. Lots of white fence. Pretty simple. A couple of trees..."
"Do we get to meet Tristy and Gandy Dancer?" I smiled, surprized that Zac knew their names.
"If you want to we can." We pulled up and Ike, Tay and Zac leaped out of the car and dashed for the front door, waiting impatiently for me to join them.
"Geez. You guys act like you've been waiting for this moment for your whole life." They stood there and smiled innocently. For some reason, their expressions told me thay have. I unlocked the door. "Well, this is it." They rushed inside.
"Where's your room?" Zac asked. I shook my head and smiled, amazed that anyone would be so ecstatic about being in my house.
"This way." I led them to my room.
"There's nothing in here! Just a bed, closet, and a table." Tay informed me.
"I don't really spend much time here. I get to sleep here. That's about all."
"Lets see your horses." Ike suggested.
"Okay." I led them to the barn and pushed the doors open. "It's not very big, but then you don't need a big barn for two horses, a tack room and a feed room." I flipped on the light as we went into the barn.
"You're still going to keep your horses, right?" Tay asked.
"I'm deffinitely keeping them."
"So these are your two horses." Zac stated. "Can I sit on one?"
"Gandy Dancer or Tristy?"
"Umm, which one do you ride the most?"
"Tristy." "Can I sit on Gandy Dancer?"
"Sure." I slipped the halter off the hook next to his stall and slipped it over Gandy's head. I opened the stall and led him out, then hooked him up in the crossties. I brought over a mounting block so Zac could get on. He jumped on and situated himself on Gandy's back.
"Can he go?"
"Not right now. You guys want to go on a trail ride?" I asked everybody.
"We don't have enough horses." Ike pointed out.
"I have two bareback pads. We can ride double." I suggested.
"Yeah!" Zac shouted. "I ride with Lenora!" He calimed, jumping off Gandy.
"No Zac." Tay said sharply. I could sence some tension building. Then I got an idea.
"How 'bout," I directed them into a little room used as an office. "we can pick something from a bag." I found a blank sheet of paper and a pen. "Maybe what we can do is draw, say take four pieces of paper, and draw a shape on two of the four pieces of paper, and then a different one on the other two. Who's ever shape matches the other, that's who rides with who. Is that okay?"
"Yeah." They agreed.
"Okay. What shapes should we use?"
"Circle and square. Quick and simple." Ike suggested.
"Alright." I tore four pieces off the paper, drew two circles and two squares, folded them in half, and put them in a plastic bag and shook them up. I held out the bag so they could pick. Tay picked first.
