Chapter Twelve

I flipped on the t.v. for the nine o'clock news. I didn't listen, but one of the headlines cought my attention.
"Sadness is brought to a well know and loved actress. That story at nine ten." Since I had nothing better to do, I kept the t.v. on to listen to what they'd say.

"You guys! Come see this!" Zac yelled from the t.v. room.
"What?!" Tay called back.
"On the news! A story about Lenora!" Both Ike and Tay came running into the room.
"Today, there was a tragic event in the famous Lenora DeSoto's life today. The story begins when Lenora was attending a friend's celebrity weekend party, when she got a call from the New York City Hospital saying that her mother Laura had been admitted to their hospital. She left the party immediately after receiving the call, flying in a private plane to the hospital, escorted by her famous co-worker Dane Cothran. They found her mother in a coma and a complete body cast. Amazingly enough, her mother came out out of the coma to say a couple of things to Lenora, and then she passed away. Funeral arangements are being made with the assistance of the Cothran family. We bring you the date and time as soon as it is available. The late Laura DeSoto was 36. And next-" Zac turned off the t.v.
"That answeres our questions." Tay said.
"I wonder if she's okay." Ike told them.
"Time to go to bed boys." Their father called.
"Okay."

Sunday went by very slowly. Jake hung around, basically staying away, letting me have my distance. The neighbors came over, dropping off food and sending their sympathy. I stayed in my room and let Jake handel the visitors. Dane called me saying that the soonest the funeral could be would be tomorrow. I agreed that that would be alright, and that our director had already okayed the plans for tomorrow.

At five o'clock, the Hanson's family t.v. was turned on the news.
"An update on Lenora DeSoto coming up next." They showed some commercials, then returned to the news.
"The funeral for Laura DeSoto will be held tomorrow in the funeral home of Lunden Brothers in their home town of Chestnut Grove in upstate New York. Open visiting hours are between two and four in the afternoon." The lady turned to her co-anchor. "I want to say to the rest of the DeSoto family that I and my co-workers send our utmost sympathy. Our next story involes a dog and a duck..." Zac left the room. Tay and Ike decided to follow.
"So do you guys wanna go?" Zac asked once they were in their room with the door closed. "You know this would be a great idea to talk to her personally." Zac said with a huge smile on his face.
"Zac. This is a time of grieving and mourning for the deceased. Not 'lets hit on the most gorgeous girl in the world while she's crying time'." Tay said, "but lets go anyway. Besides. She has to stop crying sometime. And when she does, we'll be there. Right Zac?"
"Right!!!" Zac yelled.
"Are you coming Ike?" Tay asked.
"I suppose. But I'm not gonna come on to her."
"Yeah. Right. I'll believe that when I see it." Zac snorted at his brother's remark.
"Well, lets go talk to mom and dad about flying to New York again." Tay suggested.
