Wing Chun Kung Fu

Coaches
Sifu David Blackley has been involved in the Martial Arts and Wing Chun for over twenty years and has taught for about fifteen years. He has won national full contact titles at two weights and has coached both individual and team national title winners.

As well as Wing Chun he is also a qualified coach in Combined Shaolin Kung Fu (comprising of praying mantis, tiger and crane), he has trained in Karate, Aikido, Muay Thai, Boxing and Ju Jitsu. David is a senior instructor and gradings officer with N.A.K.M.A.S. (national governing body).

He has served in the forces and worked as a body guard. As a result he is able to give first hand accounts of what works and what does not.

David is a former student at Nottingham University having completed a B.Sc. and a PGCE. He is in a unique position in that he understands modern teaching methods and the pressures involved with both under graduate and post graduate life at Nottingham.   Read more in an article published in the Nottingham Evening Post.

Hi, I'm the guy who gets dumped with all the paperwork, also known as this year's President of the Wing Chun Society.  Everyone knows that I am the ultimate control freak, which also means that I (should) know more or less everything that goes on in the club.  If you have any questions, email me.

I've been training with the two instructors in Nottingham for two years now.  Ultimately, I hope I will become an instructor myself one day.  (well... we can wish can't we?)

Tom Prickett Tom Prickett

Hi, I'm Tom, treasurer of the Wing Chun Society which permits me to order all mannor of pain inflicting equipment under the pretence of training.  I also facilitate movements of large amoumts of our cash to my personal overseas investments ready for two months in the Caribbean.  I started doing Wing Chun two years ago, so obviously now I'm ready to take on anyone who thinks they're hard enough.

Besides Wing Chun, I also enjoy surfing and swimming regularly - all of which I'm sure you're interested to hear, so as an added bonus I'll let slip that I'm doing a math's degree as well (just don't tell anyone - it interferes with my hard image!).

Hi, I'm James, the General Sec for the club. This means it's usually me that Brian goes to if he's stressed and can't cope (usually with the web page) :P

Other than a couple of martial arts and stuff, I do a Computer Science degree. Despite this, I actually do a lot of theory/coding work and generally computer related stuff. Currently I'm writing this passage, after which I'll have finished it.

Andrew Smith

Hi, I'm Andy the social sec. My job consists of two highly important roles. Firstly, I sell Cr(isis) tickets and secondly, I organise the alcoholic orgies. If anyone has any ideas for amazing club social events, please feel free to come and discuss them with me.

I've been studying Wing Chun for two years at the university under both Sifu's, and hope to continue with Wing Chun for many years to come. As a physics student, I constantly need to release pent up aggression and frustration. Wing Chun has helped me do this and kept me from resorting to violence on old age pensioners and small fluffy animals, thus keeping me on the path of righteousness and out of prison. See you around.
