It is when we allow ourselves the privilege
Of having expectations for other people
That we run into trouble.
Because other people do not always follow our agenda.
Other people seem to have their own agendas.
Can you imagine that?
They actually want to live their own lives
Think their own thoughts
Dream their own dreams
Chase their own goals
And form their own opinions.
Each of us has one life in this world.
We do not own each other's lives.
We can not claim another's dreams.
We can not jump into another's body or mind.
So why do we try to control other people?
And why do we have expectations for them?
It is through these high expectations that we struggle.
It is through expectations for other people,
That we eventually arrive at disappointment's door.
We never would have to stand at the door of disappointment,
Had we not boarded the train called "Expectations!"
ALL ABOARD FOR TRAIN EXPECTATION......
Tend to your own garden.
You will find plenty of weeds there to pull.
Let my garden grow as it will.
It is my plot of land.
I will try not to interfer in your life.
If you try not to interfer in mine.
There is a difference between admiring another's garden,
And crossing the fence and walking up and down the rows.
There is a difference between observing another's garden,
And crossing the fence and taking the bounty home with you!
It is not yours to take.
It is mine.
I will learn to tend my own garden,
To keep my expectations directed toward myself,
To allow you to experience your own life,
At your own pace, in your own time.
Will you allow me the same courtesy?
