The Journey (Part 2)

I awoke to the sound of his crying.
Why won't he sleep? I wondered.
I stumbled to his crib.
Tripping on a toy as I went.

I had brought him home.
I had thought it best.
Now I wasn't sure.

He saw me at his crib side.
His cries died down.
Was he hungry?
Wet?
Bored?
I didn't know.

I had brought him home.
I had thought it best.
Now I wasn't sure.

I picked him up.
A new sensation washed over me.
I had never felt before this moment.
It was a mother’s love for her child.
I knew now what I was going to do.
I was going to raise this little boy.
I was going to be the best mom I could.
I may not be perfect but I'm all he's got.
