THE BENCHREST
This rifle was recently completed and is ready for field work. "The Benchrest" was intended for that purpose, but around here it will see more varmint elimination action. "The Benchrest" is built on an FN Mauser 98 single shot action with a Douglas Air Guaged 25" stainless bull barrel. It's chambered in 6mm250 Savage using a match grade reamer. The gun is topped with Leupold base and rings and a 40x Weaver scope. The steel is set in a Bishop Unlimited benchrest walnut stock. The stock was coverted to a thumbhole design and slightly reduced in size and weight. The rifle is weighs in at 19 lbs, and stresses the limits of the bipod. Accuracy testing has begun with prelem groups in the .14" and .19" range.
