All About Me

My name is Shawn Roll. I was born in Greenville, Ohio, and I was raised near Versailles, Ohio. To the left is the most current family picture that we have (taken in September 2002). In the front is my sister Andrea, along with Nathan my niece Samantha and nephew Jacob. Seated in the middle is myself along with my sister Jennifer, her husband Jarod, and my niece Mara. And of course in the back is my mother, Joan, and my father, Larry.

Careers in our family are very diverse, starting with the foundation and our roots of running a turkey farm. In addition the family has a library media specialist, an attorney, a graphic artist, a tool maker, computer systems manager, and a therapist.

I graduated from Versalles High School as one of twelve validictorians of the class of '98, spent a year at Miami University in Oxford, and graduated from The Ohio State University magna cum laude, with a degree in Occupational Therapy in 2002. While at OSU I was the President of the Student Occupational Therapy Association and a member of Pi Theta Epsilon, the national OT honor society. I completed an independant research project looking at office ergonomics and computer workstations. My work was honored by President Kirwin at a special banquet with 90 other OSU students, and has been presented at the OSU Denman Research Forum, the Ohio OT Association Conference, and the American OT Association Convention in Washington, DC.

I currently live just on the east side of Columbus in a quiet "suburb" called Bexley. I drive down the road to work each day in Lancaster, Ohio for Fairfield Medical Center. I am the program coordinator for the hospital's industrial rehabilitation program, WorkLife. As the coordinator and Occupational Therapist for the program, I am responsible for gathering all information for client intakes, complete the physical assessments, plan rehabilitation programs, and participate in marketing and outcomes management. In addition to the work at the clinic I get to go out to job sites and complete ergonomic assessment, on-site therapy, job analyses and other fun tasks. It's an awesome first job to have, and all my co-workers are great. I've been very fortunate to find a job doing exactly what I want to do.

Friends are one of the most important aspects of my life, as I consider them my extended family. Friends come and go, but I've been fortunate to have a lot of very close friends that just seem to stick around.

Even though we don't see too much of each other any more, I don't know where I would be without my my friend Jenny. The two of us have been through a lot together, and I am really lucky to have such a great friend.
And of course can't forget about my best friend Dusty, whom I really don't get to see too often either.

This is the best picture I have of my closest friends here...Brandon, Rob, and Eric. Also not to forget my friends Emily, Scott, Breanne, Amy...sorry if I didn't mention your name, but there are too many to even mention here. I am very lucky to have such great friends.

In addition to all my current friends I don't like to forget those that have made an impact on my life in the past. I have a large group of friends from my high school days, and have made many more friends in my college years. I made many friends in my OT classes at OSU and have also made friends through my past summer jobs with Summer Conference Housing.

My list of favorites includes Italian food, people watching, coffee shops, theater, & running. The thing that I enjoy and miss doing most is being on a stage and performing. Hopefully someday soon I'll get my life organized enough to have time to get back on the stage.

As far as my personality goes....well, it isn't the greatest combination in the world. I have found that I am an introverted pessimistic analytical perfectionist! That being said, I feel that I am a very "down to earth" kind of guy. I hate talking about my strengths, because I'm not an ego-maniac, but for the sake of bragging on my own site (that's the purpose of a website..right?), here goes...I am a very intellectual person, with strong motivation and goals for my future. I consider myself a leader and a listener. I am a person that hates to have anyone mad at me, and I want everyone to like me. I can make friends with almost anyone, and I will usually go out of my way to make or save a friendship. I'm perfectly content doing anything or going anywhere as long as it involves being with friends. I can be a very emotional person at times. I believe that a hug can be more powerful than a thousand words.

Well, that's about all that I have to say for now. If you want to know more, please send me an e-mail. I'd love to hear from you.
