Start of the 1999-2000 Session Brings many Changes!

Hello everyone, and welcome back to another session with The Ohio-Penn Chapter of the ASSE! To say the least, this will be the year of many changes. We've had to change our meeting location again, and it continues to be a daunting task to find a suitable location that will accommodate our schedule and limited number of attendees. For now, our current location for our first meeting will be at:

Old Country Buffet

Shops At Boardman Park

387 Boardman-Canfield Road (Rt.224)

Boardman, OH 44512

We will have a social get-together at 5:30 P.M., with dinner served at 6:00 P.M., and our Speaker's presentation scheduled for 7:00 P.M. Cost is $15.00 per person (this may change as our locations do).

Next, we've got a pretty cool website, thanks to our former Chapter President Mr. Bob Foust & son! Check us out at:

https://www.angelfire.com/oh2/ohpennasse/index.html.

(We think you'll like it.!) If you're viewing this Newsletter on-line, you'll also notice I'm playing with the colors. Like I said, changes. Most importantly, though, you won’t be receiving a monthly Newsletter like you're accustomed to. Due to rising costs, lack of material, etc., etc., we will only be sending a quarterly Newsletter to everyone via U.S. Mail, with a monthly postcard reminder of the meetings. We just have no choice at this time. We are still pursuing other alternatives, but nothing has been finalized yet. I've attached a schedule of events (to date) of our planned meetings, topics, and speakers. Please update your calendar accordingly.

On this note: We really need your support. We need to see you attend at least one of our scheduled meetings, and at least one seminar (see the enclosed flyer for our 9th Annual Occupational Safety & Health Professional Development Seminar, October 19, 1999). This is your association, and we really need your direct support. We have over 65 members, but only a few members who routinely support our monthly meetings. Please, we need you help. Plan on attending at least one meeting. We're not that far from the big lake, or the big river. Yes, most of our meetings are in the Youngstown-

Warren area, but if you'd like to help us setup a meeting in your area, CALL US.

We're also asking each member to personally contact at least one other person to bring to a meeting. They do not have to be a member. Bring your Boss, your Company's CEO, a representative from your Safety Committee, anyone. Bring your spouse. You'd be surprised how appreciative they are to get involved with you (trust me, I know!)

Bottom line. We have a goal to significantly increase our Chapter membership this year, and our attendance. We need active players. Sorry I'm so blunt, but everyone must know that most organizations have a great database of members, with only a handful on active participants. This type of organizations will ultimately fail. We have several committees, and need members to chair, work, and support them. We're asking you to step-up to the plate!

Take a look at the schedule. We have a very professional and powerful agenda for this season. Please help us with your support by attending all the sessions!

Thanks, Nick Carano

Chapter Editor

Ps- Yep. You still need to call Mary at: 330-758-9280

the Thursday before each meeting date for reservations. She really appreciates your help!
