Title: Cast Away

Starring: Tom Hanks, Helen Hunt, Christopher Noth, and Nick Searcy
Rating & Review: 1½ out of 4 stars
At least it looked like a really good movie. Hey, it looked like an epic. Especially since "Survior" this summer. Unfortunely, most everything just went wrong with this movie. I don't think that Tom Hanks should have been casted for this role. His sacrifice for his own body was incredible (just like Philedelphia), but he didn't have the right look at all. A good idea would have been actually having most of the movie and his life on the island. The beginning - moodless, meaningless. The middle - the good part, just not enough of it. The ending - romantic, but also disappointing. Lots of unanswered questions, burning questions. I didn't like that. Lots of missing pieces, entertaining pieces. Ditto. Cast Away is more of a fantasy because there is no way in the world anyone could have lived that long, especially with all of those gigantic gashes he accumulates. (Coral reef infections would have killed him weeks.) Come on now, let's be realistic.
Best Part of the Movie: Different...
Worst Part of the Movie: Just didn't reach expections. (Sorry, Tom)

Title: Unbreakable
MPAA Rating: Rated PG-13 for mature thematic elements including some disturbing violent content
Genre: Thriller/Sci-Fi/Drama
Starring: Bruce Willis, Samuel L. Jackson, Spencer Treat Clark, Robin Wright, and Charlayne Woodard
Rating & Review: 3 out of 4 stars
It's only natural to pick apart M. Night Shyamalan's new thriller and compare it to 'The Sixth Sense'. They have many similarities: Bruce, Philly, little kid, twist ending. But they were made completly different. For exmaple, 'Sense' was a frightening story with a spirt lifting idea. The characters were thought provoking and chillingly amazing. Unbreakable is the exact oppoiste. The only idea is gloomy, puzzling, and disheartening. The characters are strange and sure don't lift any spirts. The feeling is dark and silent. We start with a family. Like most, it has problems. Unfortunely, the movie never gets you close enough to care. Haley Joel Osment's memorable spot has been taken by the rising Spencer Treat Clark. Not bad, but no Haley. Enter Sam Jackson, he has a crucial role because his story is the one that's going to keep your interest. Not a bad ass loud mouth tough guy as usual, now Jackson plays the opposite, a man weakened by a disease that makes his bones decrepit and easy to break. Together, David (Willis) and Elijah (Jackson) discover a strange, supernatural protection placed on David himself. Then you sit back and realize that this whole movie is surrounded by .... comic books! Weak! Don't let someone spoil the big twister at the end. It's the glue that makes this movie even worth seeing.
Best Part of the Movie: The ending.
Worst Part of the Movie: Disheartening.
