Chapter 5
It was now three in the morning and you felt the presence of someone else in the
room. You had finally fallen asleep at about one thirty. Dinner had been excellent.
The whole family was there, except for Isaac, he ate in his room and it had bothered
you that he didn’t want to see you.
You roll over and see Isaac sitting beside your bed in a chair, watching you
sleep. “Isaac? What are you doing?” You softly whisper to him.
“Christina.... we need to talk,” he tells you.
“But Isaac...... it’s three AM. Can’t this wait till morning?” You ask him as you
sit up on the edge of the bed. It wasn’t that you didn’t want to talk to him, you wanted to
sleep.
“No.... I need to tell you this now. I’ve been thinking. And for the past couple
of months I have tried to forget about you. I’ve tried erasing all the memories. It’s not
possible. You are a hard girl to get over. And that’s why I have to tell you that I need
you. I need you in my life, it’s impossible to live without you. And I don’t care if it’s
wrong or right. I missed everything about you. The way we use to talk, the way you
laughed, your sparkling blue eyes, and that you smell good even if it is just shampoo.
There are many more, but don’t you see..... I love you.” His voice trails off with the end
of his sentence.
“Isaac...... the reason why I wanted to end our relationship was not to hurt you.
I can’t imagine ever hurting you. I just got caught up in everything. Leaving was the
hardest thing to do. I just wanted you to think about your career first. I know how
important the music is to you. And I knew that in my heart, if you loved me like you said
you did, you would never forget me and we would be together someday. Isaac... the
reason I am here is to be with you now. I got a letter that you said you have been really
depressed. That scared me. And if was because of me..... I am sorry. And then when I
did try to talk to you, you pushed me away and that hurt.”
“I didn’t want to hurt you. It was just like you expected me to automatically
take you back after all that happened. I wasn’t ready then. It’s hard to explain, I
needed time to things through. But I know now that I love you with all my heart and I
can’t imagine life without you. I don’t ever want to let you go.”
“Oh Isaac.... I think that is the sweetest thing you have said to me,” you reach
over to him and give him a hug as your eyes fill with tears, “I love you too.”
He reaches over and wipes the tears from your eyes, “so does this mean we
are back together?”
“I think so,” you tell him.
“Good,” he says and leans over and kisses your lips lightly, “I better get back
up to bed. I feel so much better now that we have talked.”
“Good night,” you tell him. He gets up and puts the chair back. Heading up
the stairs, you call his name, “Wait Isaac.”
He stops and comes back down a few stairs. “What’s wrong?”
“Will you sleep down here tonight?” You ask him as you stand up and walk
over to the stair case, grabbing his hand.
“Well...” he is hesitant at first, but likes the idea. The two of you walk back
over to the bed. You curl up beside him, facing him, with your head tucked under his
chin and his arm around your waist. Smiling to yourself, you take in his scent. It’s so
comforting to be held in his arms where you had always felt so safe.
